To shoot remakes of recognized masterpieces of art house is a thankless task. Especially when it comes to such poignant films as "Let Me In", a subtle story about a shy boy and a vampire girl. And is it worth it? But at present, work is already underway to create an American version of the film. Filming is directed by Matt Reeves, the creator of the famous "Monstro".

True, Matt himself says that the point here is not at all in adapting the film to the needs of American viewers, but in his personal rethinking of the book by Yun Ivide Lindqvist. According to him, he had not even seen the Swedish film adaptation before reading the book. Matt says that he himself grew up in conditions of alienation and problems in communication with peers, and the atmosphere of the book is very similar to that of America in the 80s. The Cold War, the Reagan era, small American towns that are closed communities - all this is very similar to the Sweden described in the book by Lindqvist.

About the Swedish film adaptation by director Thomas Alfredsson, Reeves speaks with great respect and perfectly understands the skepticism of film fans. But in this case, the "Americanization" of the work will not consist in adding expensive special effects, contextual advertising and simplifying the storyline. Matt will try to transfer the story to America of his childhood and tell it the way he saw it.
