WINTER TRADITIONALLY it is considered a quiet time on television, not rich in premieres, but with several stable returns of big stories that we have missed - like, for example, "Girls" or "House of Cards". This year there are fewer new products than at any other time, but each of them is intriguing in its own way. We tell you about the upcoming serial premieres, which will help you keep warm in the cold while you watch them, pressing a warm laptop closer.

Divorce instructions for women
GIRLFRIENDS 'GUIDE TO DIVORCE
Bravo !, 2 December
TRAILER
Few people have ever opened a book about "self-help" at least once, especially by the authorship of some successful woman, one of those whose life is in full view. The main character of this series is just like this: she has an ideal family, a loving husband and the best-selling "The Girlfriends' Guide to Marriage", from which everyone is delighted. There is one small snag - this marriage guide didn't even save her own family life. The perfect picture, in which she so wanted to believe, turns out to be a lie, and now she needs to gather strength and start life anew, leaving the divorce and the unfaithful husband behind. The series was invented by Marty Noxon, known for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Grey's Anatomy, which is, you see, a very good recommendation for a screenwriter. The show is based on a series of self-help books for women by Vicky Iovine "Girlfriends' Guide".
Starring Lisa Edelstein, everyone's favorite Cuddy from House, who has long relied on her own series.

Librarians
THE LIBRARIANS
TNT, December 7
TRAILER
A series about librarians is not as boring as it might seem. The show is a bit like trying to remake Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with a focus on supporting characters. Instead of one mentor and librarian Giles, we get a whole team, instead of vampires - magical creatures and events of various kinds. The series grew out of a series of television films about a librarian protecting valuable artifacts - not Indiana Jones yet, but not bad. The show plays well on the unexpected pairing of the world's quietest profession with saving the world. Showrunners don't make hypertrophied superheroes out of bookworms; librarians simply "send evil to the history section."
At the head of the franchise remained one of the most beloved doctors of TV - Dr. Carter from Ambulance, that is, Noah Wiley; the saviors of the world will be led by old-school comedian Bob Newhart, whom you may have seen in The Big Bang Theory; the similarities with the Whedonian universe are added by Christian Kane, who played in "Angel".

Marco Polo
MARCO POLO
Netflix, December 12
TRAILER
The Weinstein Company embarked on an ambitious project that captures Marco Polo's early years. The Venetian merchant and traveler is famous for telling 14th century Europe about the wonders of Central Asia. In the series, he will find himself at the court of the powerful Kublai Khan, who founded the Yuan state, which then included China. The story of Marco Polo was indeed full of exhilarating adventures worthy of a fairy tale retelling. His travels in different ways have already been filmed several times, for example, in 1982; the series of the same name took then two "Emmy". This winter should turn out to be no worse: the trailer promises a beautiful picture and an exciting storyline.
The main role is played by Lorenzo Riquelmi, known, however, only to ardent fans of Italian TV and cinema.

Galavant
GALAVANT
ABC, January 4th
TRAILER
A fabulous Middle Ages with a fair amount of mockery of the genre, as well as songs and dances. The musical series is clearly something that we lacked so much. Here, the opposite is true: the princess chooses the villain and does not want to be rescued, and the valiant warrior languishes in a ditch, not washing for a year, and they all can sing very well. The main character is just that fallen knight who will take up the old and go to save the kingdom, without unnecessary pathos and with a song. The series logically fills the slot vacated after "Once Upon a Time". Responsible for the music are his producer Glenn Slater, nominated for Tony, and Oscar-winning Alan Menken, who came up with the music for Disney's Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, for example.
About the main actor, Joshua Sass, is still not clear about anything, except that he resembles Fassbender's younger brother; he will be assisted by Timothy Omundson from Seer, and actor and footballer Vinnie Jones.

Agent Carter
AGENT CARTER
ABC, January 6
TRAILER
Without being distracted from the Carters' theme: in winter to replace "Agents of SHIELD" a new series about the main organization of the Marvel universe in the fight against evil will come - thank God without abbreviations in the title. Agent Carter has appeared in the Captain America films, but now she will work for Tony Stark's father Howard, secretly from her superiors in the Strategic Science Reserve. The whole Peggy Carter series was inspired by the warmly received short. Hayley Atwell was thrilled to be back in the role of Peggy: a smart young woman forced to fight her way through 40s male America. In the story, she will be assisted by Stark's butler with the suspiciously familiar name Jarvis.
Hayley Atwell has already fallen in love for her role in "The First Avenger", her partner will be played by the English actor James D'Arcy; we will also see Dominic Cooper in his Marvel role - Stark Sr., as well as the favorite of the girls from the TV series "One Tree Hill" by Chad Michael Murray.

You better call
Solu
BETTER CALL SAUL
AMC, February 15
TRAILER
Conversations about the series, dedicated exclusively to lawyer Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad, have been going on for a long time - to our delight, these were not just rumors. Goodman became almost the most beloved character in the main series, remaining the most "respectable" of all, as far as possible. The show about Sol is produced by Vincent Gilligan and Peter Gould, who invented Breaking Bad, and there are also screenwriters Thomas Schnauz and Jennifer Hutchison. The comedy-drama will take place six years before the original events. Drunk driving? Pestering people on the street? Do you have criminal problems all the time? Don't worry - you know who to call if you screw it up.
There is no need to explain anything about Bob Odenkirk: the wonderful actor, comedian, screenwriter and director managed to fall in love with the public long before Breaking Bad thanks to SNL back in the 80s, and then thanks to numerous roles on TV and in films.

Unity
TOGETHERNESS
HBO, January 11
TRAILER
HBO series with the trademark humor of the Duplass brothers and a touch of realism about the difficulties that come after thirty. The plot revolves around four people who are trying to somehow improve their lives. By the will of fate, they have to live under one roof, thereby constantly taking each other out of the comfort zone. Mark Duplass will play one of the main roles - Brett, trying with his wife to get used to the roles of parents that are still new for them. Together with them, Brett's best friend and his wife's sister share life, each of whom refuses to accept and abandon their dreams and desires, while not coping with the inevitable responsibility of adulthood.
Marc Duplass, who directed Jeff Living at Home, has become popular with the general public in recent years for his roles in Safety Is Not Guaranteed and Beloved for his inimitable ability to combine comedy with the tragedies of everyday life. Excellent actresses Amanda Peet and Melanie Lynskey will play alongside him.

12 monkeys
12 MONKEYS
SyFy, January 16
TRAILER
ACTORS
Terry Gilliam's Sai-Fi starring Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis will be the main series this winter. The original full-length film about the apocalypse and time travel was a huge success, both commercially and among critics and audiences. The decision to repeat such a move seems dangerous in its own way, but at least deserves respect. The cult film will not be literally re-shot, which is meaningless without the participation of Gilliam and the actors of the first magnitude, but, rather, will be re-imagined. The plot is the same: the main character goes back in time to stop the spread of the deadly virus. It is not in vain that SyFy has earned the reputation of a TV channel that is equally dashing to hit the mark and shamefully miss, so we hope that the show will not be one of the latter.
Starring Aaron Stanford from Nikita, and X-Men: The Last Stand, where he played Pyro.

Red tent
THE RED TENT
Lifetime, December 7
TRAILER
Contrary to the same English titles, The Red Tent has nothing to do with the 1969 film The Red Tent. In this case, this is a screen version of Anita Diamant's novel about a minor biblical character Dinu, the daughter of Jacob. The red tent is the place where, in accordance with the plot of the book, the birth of children took place, as well as where women went during menstruation. In the Bible, Dina's brothers carved out the city of the prince who raped her, but in the book their love was mutual. The adaptation will focus on the main character's relationship with other women, her mother and sister, and also with Prince Shechem.
Dinu will be played by Rebecca Ferguson from the British TV series "The White Queen"; much more experienced actresses will play the supporting roles. The role of her mother went to Minnie Driver, and her sisters - Morene Baccarin from "Firefly", "Viziterov" and "Homeland".

Superpowers
Powers
December, TBA
Playstation
trailer
In the fall, a trailer for the series based on the comic book series of the same name was shown at New York ComicCon, and the audience was delighted. Powers, or Forces, is the name of a special crime fighting unit that deals with superhero affairs. Not muscular guys in multicolored latex, but just those with super powers, that's the way it is. The protagonist himself once knew how to fly, and when he forgot how he began to work in the police. The gloomy and cynical Christine Walker is not particularly happy with his work, but that's noir for the detective to look sullenly. In a world where the superhero theme is played in every way, a fresh look is always interesting without unnecessary idealization of superhuman abilities.
Sharlto Copley, it seems, was born for the role of an antihero, he doesn't even have to swear, his face is more expressive than a thousand words; you most likely remember him from District 9, as well as Elysium: Heaven Not on Earth and Maleficent.
