WE TELL ABOUT TRENDS FROM THE PODIUM, which you can adapt to your wardrobe for the next six months. In this issue, we understand how the designers turned out to be almost unanimous in choosing the main outerwear of summer - light robes. We will tell you how it happened and what to wear them with.

How it all started

It is easy to guess that the history of the robe begins in the Ancient East: loose, with wide sleeves, they were worn by both men and women. In Arab and Asian culture, a long, buttonless robe has been the staple of a wardrobe staple. For representatives of wealthy estates, robes were sewn from silk and satin, and decorated with various plot prints. The robe was usually presented as a reward. It is believed that the Turks brought the robe to Europe, and in Russia it appeared thanks to the war with them. Men wore robes over shirts and trousers, and soon they became a household item at all, as well as a marker of a luxurious and idle life for those who could afford not to work.

In the 60s and 70s, on the wave of hippies' interest in the East and ethnicity, tunics and robes, decorated with embroidery and decorated with fringes, became popular. True, these variations were still very different from the "linen" dressing gowns, which were still not accepted to be worn outside the apartment. For example, in the film "Planet of the Apes" the monkey hero appears before the audience in a dressing gown, and in historical films one could often see special "smoking" dressing gowns that men put on over their clothes, protecting them from ash. Today, in the wake of the "new comfort" trend, it is proposed to wear robes as everyday clothes - and, by the way, not only girls.

How robes are back in fashion

A simple loose coat is not a trend today. Loose, tied with a belt, they have appeared on shows in the autumn-winter seasons for several seasons in a row. American Glamor notes that the ideal model should be so comfortable that you would forget to take it off when you got home. Fashion strives for variety and the search for new comfortable models and materials: we have already got used to lingerie-style suits, combination dresses, and flat-soled mules. The more the concepts of "home" and "street" clothes are blurred, the more irreplaceable bathrobes seem. Today you can wear them both as a dress and as a coat.

Creatures of Comfort, for example, takes its cue from Hugh Hefner and the classic men's robe that is easy to imagine with velvet slippers. Thakoon suggest wearing it with a bodysuit with culottes - a luxurious outfit for relaxing and walking along the evening embankments. Givenchy give carte blanche to satin milky boudoir options, while Gucci, on the other hand, relies on a bright print - and they win: few street fashion reports have done without it. In the collections of the next season, there are also enough light coats-robes - however, wearing them in the conditions of the Russian winter is somewhat problematic. Therefore, there is only one advice - start doing it right now, since many options can already be purchased at a discount. Russian designers (for example, VikiLiberman and House of Kaftans) are also inspired by the national clothes of the Middle East, where a robe and a caftan are still in price: despite the use of traditional shapes and prints, their products look as clear as possible and in the spirit of the times.

What to wear with

When mentioning things that were only appropriate at home recently, traditional gloss usually advises to be careful and combine them with everyday clothes. There is no doubt - the robe, along with denim shorts, sneakers and a regular T-shirt, always looks appropriate and does not raise questions. But we would advise you to go for broke: silk suits, slippers, high heels, large jewelry and even turbans - this is how stylist Catherine Baba, the friend and muse of designer Dries van Noten, dresses in this way, with a clear reference to the East. The last season after season shows variations of robes, kimonos and caftans in its collections. If the variety of bright colors and prints does not appeal to you, look to the designer Luella Bartley for an example - loafers, minimalistic jewelry, a strict-shaped bag look relaxed and not boring together with a coat-coat.

Another question is how to wear a dressing gown? We would say with confidence. It doesn't require any special accessories, but if you want to impress everyone, opt for shiny earrings or large necklaces. This dress can be combined with wide trousers: if you choose the option from silk and satin, you get a real suit. From shoes, white sneakers, and intricate sneakers, and slippers, and high-heeled sandals are suitable. In order not to leave a trace of the feeling of a home kit, throw a backpack over your shoulders - you can hardly think of a kit for the summer that is more comfortable.
