FOR THE HEADING "WARDROBE" we photograph beautifully, distinctively or oddly dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is singer Sasha Fried.
I remember in eighth grade I came to school in Dad's jeans, an 80s velvet dress with a pink petticoat, bare shoulders and a rose on the chest, a red adidas silk sports jacket with huge pink beads. On my head I had a cap embroidered with various buttons (hand-made), and on my legs - high-top Converse sneakers with inscriptions. I looked original. The kids at school asked me to decorate their backpacks with pins and badges. I felt great: they called me "freak" and "clown", but I was not like everyone else.
At the age of seventeen, I discovered the world of my mother's things. Found hidden suitcases with velvet jackets, high-waisted wide trousers, boiled Levi's and her prom dress. It blew my head off, and in time - the fashion for the 90s and second-hand things just started. Since then, I have decided for myself: I will never throw away or give away anything from my clothes, especially jackets, which are my main passion. I collect them, and someday my grown-up daughter will find my suitcases and be ten times happier than me. I am very grateful to my mother. I have a love for vintage to this day and throughout my life.
In general, a very correct policy was pursued in my family - not to buy expensive things for a child who, firstly, clearly would not appreciate the quality, and secondly, he would break in the yard, and thirdly, he was simply not able to appreciate an expensive thing and, in- fourth, it will quickly grow out of it. I remember my first trademark very well - these yellow patent Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes, which they bought for me at the prom.
Now, when I am actively involved in artistic and concert activities, such a concept as "concert costume" has appeared in my wardrobe. I always choose clothes for the stage, starting from the institution, the nature of my musical program - I perform and compose music of very different styles, the basis of which is jazz and rock. But in everyday life I dress calmly, I put accents on bags, shoes or outerwear. I spend a lot of time at rehearsals or traveling around the city behind the wheel - in both cases, comfort and freedom of movement are important to me.
Stella McCartney pants, Nike sneakers, no name T-shirt, H&M jacket, Alexander Wang bag
A green jacket made of some supernatural materials. H&M is infinitely dear to my heart. I first acquired it in Frankfurt in 2012, and lost it a couple of months later. It was an injury and I was very sad. But after a couple of years I found exactly the same one in another H&M, only one size larger - since then I am happy about its shore. When a thing is yours, it will find you.
I just adore trousers - they can be worn with sneakers, and with heels, and lie in the mud, and go out into the world. Taking a closer look, you can understand that they have been washed a million times, and the threads are sticking out at the seams.
The bag has survived a lot of fun European parties - the strap is from a different model altogether. It is unique and fits almost everything. Bright and, I think, brings good luck.
Vintage jeans from the B'Noir Store
robe no name, Vans sneakers
What can I say - these white leather slippers need to be erected. I bought them in London four years ago. They were worn sparklingly and selflessly. But it is worth wiping them with a cloth - and they are like new.
I bought a dressing gown in a carpet store in Tbilisi. I often wear it in everyday life - it causes a special sensation at the entrance to the fitness center. It is of a very pleasant quality and beautifully embroidered.
Jeans are perfect and favorite. I rarely wear and blow off dust particles.
Vintage jeans and cap, mom's top
I love this topic terribly, although it, too, has already crumbled all at the seams. Stole it from my mother - she is a fan of everything striped; fits both jeans and black trousers. Together with earrings it looks elegant. I love caps / hats / hats, but they are often too big for me - they fall off. This cap is the only one that keeps on my head. It's a pity it doesn't warm.
Topshop jeans, mom's jacket, Saint Laurent pumps
The jacket is my favorite find in my mother’s chest. It is already about 24 years old, but it is still relevant. He has character and charm. When I put it on, I feel a certain confidence in myself. Cut, velvet, buttons - love. The most important thing about these sandals is that they are unrealistically comfortable. I can easily skip the whole concert on them.
IRO jacket, Topshop jeans, Saint Laurent sneakers
I bought this jacket in Tsvetnoy - I saw it and fell in love, but there was no money. After a couple of months, one of my size was left on sale three times cheaper - naturally, I took it. In June of that year, my friend and I went to New York, and there people came up to me on the streets and asked which store I bought it from. I associate it with that festival trip.
Top and boots no name, trousers COS, April May jacket
I bought this jacket in Paris - it is made of super-soft leather, and, despite the fact that it has clear references to the country style with fringes and characteristic locks, it fits absolutely any clothing. Shoes from Tbilisi are like slippers, very soft and light. They were worth a penny. Quality, of course, is sadness, and I feel that they will not be left for long (I kill even high-quality shoes quickly), but for now I wear them.
Simone Rocha dress and bodysuit, Miu Miu shoes, no name earrings
I love massive earrings - I think they are very suitable for me. This Simone Rocha mesh is part of the dress. I like it for its uniqueness - a sort of "elegant peasant woman" who turned out to be a witch. Before the Inquisition, the last party is in store for her.
Accordingly, the best shoes for parties are this silver pair, which I have been wearing for years. They have survived more than one wedding, concert and party, but not a single glitter flew off the heel.
COS T-shirt, Topshop jeans, Miu Miu shoes, vintage kimonos and clutch
This pure silk kimono is delight and shine. Found him with a friend in Berlin on my birthday, in honor of which they gave us 50 euros. A nice bonus, in which I celebrated my 25 years. In general, it is very inspiring for feats. I bought a clutch on the same day in another store - it really suits a kimono.
Isabel Marant jacket, Topshop jeans
Favorite beaded jacket is the finest work. He is very heavy. Suitable for both evening dress and jeans. Absolutely self-sufficient thing. It was an impulse buy - bought in Tel Aviv on a friend's wedding day. I was going to wear a regular classic pantsuit, but my dad said I would disgrace him. In the end, we rushed to the shops - on a holiday, I was wearing a simple silk dress and this jacket. Dad was pleased.
Vintage Escada Blazer
A friend and owner of the B'Noir store gave it to me for my birthday. It just hung modestly in a stall at a flea market in Berlin and cost 20 euros. When we saw him, the question of a gift disappeared by itself.
Zara jacket, Chanel bag
It is in this combination that a jacket and a bag bring good luck.
Prada shoes, mother's raincoat, Fendi bag
I chased the shoes for a while. I really wanted them completely in gold, but did not find my size and bought pink ones - I do not regret a minute. They are super comfy for the stage. The Versace raincoat was stolen from my mother - this is a bright representative of the 2000s. I love the slightly flared sleeves and the stand-up collar in it - strictly and playfully. He looks very extravagant these days.
A find and a gift from my friend from the B'Noir Store. A frequent element of the costume at my concerts.
Jacket by Dries Van Noten
Each item of this brand is a work of art. But it's hard for me to wear Dries Van Noten clothes: they don't fit either in shape or in cut. However, this jacket won my heart.
Unknown brand suit
The golden suit of the Russian designer, whose name I had forgotten, had to be sutured. This is my first stage costume in the framework of the Sasha Frid project - I love it very much. It's terribly uncomfortable - it's hot in it. But the emotions of the debutante are associated with it.
Saint Laurent shoes, vintage skirt and blouse, Oysho lingerie
Stunning finds from a vintage Berlin store. This is my favorite image of a jazz diva - in it I feel desirable and irresistible.I like the cut, embroidered lace inserts on the sleeves and collar, romantic tightened wrists, a long, tight skirt with a slit and a gold trick instead of a strap.
Vintage Escada Jacket, Mom's trousers, Сéline slip-ons
You can talk about Berlin vintage for hours, and rummaging in these shops - half your life. I guarantee you will always find what you are looking for there. I just found this jacket in a bright color in perfect condition of its size 34 (many girls of small stature will understand me - this is almost unrealistic, especially vintage).
Trousers no name - mom's favorite and most versatile. The only thing is that they have a strange material (something like wool), and in summer they are frankly hot. Dirty slippers, killed and chewed by my dear Zakhar (my Affenpinscher).
Alexander Wang Sandals
Loved them for their unusual design. Despite the silicone, they are very comfortable.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille perfume
I have not parted with this fragrance for six or seven years.
Decorations: vintage and Marni
Earrings: Oscar de la Renta and vintage
Bag - gift
For my husband's birthday, my friend gave such bags to all the guests. This is a very convenient thing - everyone always asks what it is and where to get it. But this particular model with a kitten is nowhere to be found.
