An exhibition of the American feminist art group Guerilla Girls entitled "Is It Even Worse in Europe" will open in the UK this fall. The exhibition will focus on the gender imbalance in the art world: activists plan to interview directors of 400 European museums to find out how they represent art created by women, as well as gender non-conforming people and people from Africa, Asia and South America. The results of this research will be presented at the exhibition along with the recognizable works of the art group - posters "Do women have to be naked to get into the Met Museum?" and “It’s Even Worse in Europe”.

Guerilla Girls is an American feminist art group that has campaigned for equality in the art world since 1985. During public appearances, they hide behind gorilla masks and use pseudonyms - the names of famous artists of the past, such as Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe. One of the main themes raised by Guerilla Girls is the fact that contemporary artists are underrepresented in galleries, private collections and museums. In 2015, a study by activists showed that in galleries around the world, artwork created by women averaged just 20% of the total.

“In this project, we wanted to ask the question: do museums today represent a diverse history of contemporary art or the history of money and power? Our research on this issue will be presented this fall at the Whitechapel Gallery,”the collective's official statement about the future exhibition says.

The exhibition runs from October 1 to March 5 at London's Whitechapel Gallery.
