IN THE WEEKLY HEADING "NEW BRAND" we introduce young designers and tell you where and why you should buy their clothes. Our heroes this week are Yura Tishchenko and Alena Veselova, creators of the basic clothing brand BStatement.
Simple but pleasant to the body and well-tailored T-shirts, cozy sweatpants that you are not ashamed to wear to work, thin vests with long sleeves - it would seem that every second brand has a lot of such basic things. But once it gets down to business, search turns into a problem. Uniqlo, American Apparel, Oh, My are the usual choices, but even their assortment is not enough for everyone who loves basic knitwear. And now another brand has appeared, which should be included in this list, firstly, high-quality clothing, and secondly, Russian.
BStatement was founded by Yura Tishchenko and Alena Veselova. Prior to that, Alena had been purchasing designer clothes for a multi-brand store for five years, and Yura worked in the banking sector. The guys explain that, like many of their friends, at some point they were simply tired of choosing between quality and affordability: “Things from the mass market become unusable after a couple of washings, and the designer segment makes you pay extra for the brand. We decided to create an alternative."
Obviously, there really is a problem: quality items are expensive. This is explained by a simple reason - a series of intermediaries in the chain from the creation of a collection to its appearance on rails in the store. Distributors of the brand, a store that resells designer clothes, each of them increases the final value with their markups: "Multiply this by the increased euro rate and we get that a one-color high-quality T-shirt of a more or less well-known brand now costs from three thousand rubles." Hence, BStatement has a basic principle - "Direct to you". They do not cooperate with agents, retailers, thereby not shifting all markups to the buyer. Everything that is produced for the brand can only be purchased from the guys directly.
Yura and Alyona are proud that they offer things that have analogues that cost three times more: “An important point: we do not strive to be the cheapest on the market and are not going to compete with the prices of the mass market. We are an alternative to the things of the mid-level segment, and alignment with quality is based on this principle. And yes, there is a big difference between a cotton T-shirt for seven hundred rubles and one for three thousand, even if both say 100% cotton."
BStatement also supports the idea of responsible consumption. The guys believe that they need to be content with quality, not quantity, and also find joy in small things, be active and engage in self-development. The brand started with women's and men's T-shirts, but the assortment will only expand. Yura and Alena are planning to offer high-quality silk shirts, tops and blouses, basic wool knitwear. Now the brand's team consists of five people, including those who work with them remotely.

Probably one of the most difficult moments for a young brand is finding reliable contractors who will be attentive to quality and deadline requirements. We had many meetings before choosing a partner to tailor the collection. The main thing is the ability to hear each other and a mutual desire with a partner to make a high-quality product, constant discussion of what can be improved, optimized, and making production schedules. This is what we have been doing and have been doing since the launch.
