Last week we talked about how and why hyaluronic acid has become one of the most effective and popular moisturizing ingredients. Manufacturers rarely indicate its content in cosmetics, but usually it does not exceed 2%. Sometimes you can find products in which from 75 to 100% of hyaluronic acid are declared, but upon closer examination it turns out that the composition is not pure hyaluronic acid, but a mixture of water, hyaluronic acid and all kinds of extracts. If you have carefully read our previous material, then you know that effective hydration does not require the percentage of hyaluronic acid in a cream or serum to go off scale. It is much more important to apply the product correctly.
Hyaluronic acid moisturizes the skin by attracting and holding water in it, but this water must come from somewhere. Experts warn that in dry climates, when applied to a dry face, the hyaluron will begin to draw water from deeper layers of the skin to the surface and thereby produce an effect exactly the opposite of what was expected. This is the main nuance of using products with hyaluronic acid. It must either be dissolved in a large amount of water (for example, in the form of tonics and lotions), or it must be applied to damp skin (this applies to serums and creams). Logically, in humid climates, hyaluronic acid works great on its own.
Another problem, also associated with dry air, is water loss. As effective as hyaluronic acid is, dry air and sun will cause water to evaporate from the skin. To minimize this process, over the products with hyaluronic acid, it is worth using creams containing "locking" components - silicones or oils, or pure oils. Many products contain both water-retaining and "locking" components, which makes them versatile and frees you from the need to layer caring cosmetics.
In this article, we will tell you about successful products with hyaluronic acid for different types and needs of the skin - from tonics and serums to creams and patches. The only format that we deliberately bypass is the washbasin. The fact is that moisturizing ingredients in cosmetics only work when they are on the skin for a long time, and it is customary to wash off cleansers almost immediately.
Toners with hyaluronic acid are an excellent remedy for oily dehydrated skin, they are quickly absorbed and do not provoke oily skin. Typically, moisturizing toners are available without a spray, so you are expected to apply them with a cotton pad. The author of the LabMuffin blog, Michelle Wong, recommends pouring toners in a container with a spray and spraying them on your face throughout the day - so you can evenly moisturize your skin and even save money. The option is even simpler - immediately choose a spray product.
Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist
In addition to hyaluronic acid, this moisturizing spray contains glycerin and plant extracts. It moisturizes and refreshes, and if you keep it in the refrigerator, it helps you wake up in the morning. Whether this tool justifies its cost is another question, but if there is an opportunity to try it, then why not.
Librederm "Hyaluronic Water"
This face spray contains sodium hyaluronate, a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid salt. It is supposed to penetrate the skin more easily and deeply moisturize it. It's nice that domestic manufacturers began to make worthy products that you would like to try at least.
Tony Moly Aquaporin Moisture Mist
A light moisturizing spray can be applied immediately after cleansing or throughout the day to refresh your face. He has a very small spray, and the product costs significantly less than European counterparts.
Pixi hydrating milky mist
In Russia, this British brand is not available (hopefully, temporarily), but ordering it from foreign online stores is not difficult. This facial spray can easily act as a complete moisturizer in humid climates. It softens and soothes the skin and helps fight irritation.
For lotions with hyaluronic acid, you should first of all turn to Asian manufacturers. As a rule, such lotions are a little thicker than water and are quickly absorbed, but they can contain silicones, oils and all kinds of useful extracts that turn just a moisturizing lotion into a full-fledged care product. Owners of oily skin in hot weather may well be satisfied with just such a lotion. It is best to apply them not with a cotton swab, but with your hands and easily massage or drive into the skin until completely absorbed.
Hada Labo Gokujyun
The Japanese brand Hada Labo has hyaluronic acid products for every taste - from spray to mask. This lotion is the best-selling product of the brand and is recommended for all skin types. It makes sense to start your acquaintance with hyaluronic acid with it.
Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter
The "rule of three seconds", according to which you need to have time to moisturize your skin within three seconds after washing your face, seems difficult to us. Simply apply this light gel to damp skin immediately after cleansing or toning. The starter is very light, absorbs quickly and is practically odorless, and lasts for almost a year of daily use.
Melvita Eau Extraordinaire Fleur D'Oranger
Melvita has such water in several versions: with rose, orange and witch hazel. Lotions deeply moisturize the skin due to the content of hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid. The composition of these products will appeal to fans of organic cosmetics due to herbal extracts.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner
Although it is called a tonic, it has a rather thick texture. It contains oils and plant extracts and is great for dry skin. The brand also has an oil-free version of the toner with hyaluronic acid for oily skin.
Serums with hyaluronic acid often have the most ascetic composition - in addition to hyaluronic acid, they contain only water and preservatives. They perfectly moisturize and are especially suitable for owners of oily and sensitive skin. The main thing is to remember: in order for water to remain in the skin, you need to create a barrier that will not allow it to evaporate quickly. Therefore, after the moisturizing serum, it is worth applying a cream or gel containing silicones or oils in order to "lock" the moisture in the skin. Many serums already contain silicones, so we advise you to observe the skin's reaction: if there is not enough moisture during the day, a cream with a denser texture should be applied over the serum.
Hylamide Booster Low-Molecular HA Serum
The Hylamide brand creates hyaluronic acid products for different skin types and needs. Among them there are both anti-aging serums and anti-acne serums. This serum simply moisturizes well due to the hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid in the composition. It can also be added to your usual cosmetics, including decorative ones.
The Saem Power Ampoule Hydra
The manufacturer promises that it contains as many as five types of hyaluronic acid, which raises questions given the fact that only three are used in the production of cosmetics. Nevertheless, the serum moisturizes more than well, and the effect lasts all day if you apply a protective cream or gel on top. When applied, the serum is a little sticky, but this sensation passes quickly.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum
About this product, skin care specialist Caroline Hirons once wrote: "This serum shouldn't work, but it does." Indeed, its composition is completely unremarkable, but the product perfectly moisturizes and fights dehydration of any type of skin. Perhaps the Vichy serum is another reason to think about the fact that you should not judge cosmetics only by their composition, everything needs to be tried.
Derma E Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
This serum has a dense texture, so it looks more like a cream. Absorbs quickly and leaves no stickiness or film on the skin. Owners of skin prone to dryness will especially appreciate it for use under a protective cream or oil, and for oily skin it is quite suitable as an independent remedy. The serum also has a pleasant volume - 60 ml versus the usual 30.
Moisturizers with hyaluronic acid are versatile double-acting products. They simultaneously fill the skin with water thanks to water-retaining substances and preserve it due to the "locking" components. You don't always want to use several layers of care, especially in hot weather, and in this case, hyaluronic cream is the easiest and most effective way to moisturize even dry skin for a long time.
Mizon Hyaluronic Ultra Suboon Cream
The cream-gel, when applied to the skin, instantly turns into water and is suitable even for oily skin. At the same time, it contains silicones as water-blocking components, so the moisturizing effect will last for a long time. Mizon cream can also be used as a serum for thicker textures.
Clarins HydraQuench Cream
The HydraQuench line has creams for all skin types, and they all contain hyaluronic acid for hydration. As with any cream, you should not expect miracles from them, but these are very good basic products that do not provoke irritation. It's also nice that there are versions with sunscreens.
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
A very light cream that works great with a serum from the same line. It is quickly absorbed, refreshes and is suitable even for dry and sensitive skin. In addition to this sorbet, Caudalie has several more creams for different skin types, so if you need a denser texture for the cold season, you will also find it from the brand.
Doliva Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer
The Doliva brand, as you might guess from the name, creates cosmetics based on olive oil. This is a light cream, but it also contains shea butter, so the remedy may not be suitable for people with problem skin prone to clogged pores. Otherwise, this is just a good base cream for a relatively low price.
Today, hyaluronic acid is added wherever possible. And although blush with hyaluron is more likely to cause skepticism than interest, there are also interesting options. For example, eye patches and lip balms containing hyaluronic acid make sense, at least. It is up to everyone to try them or not, but we think it will be useful to mention them.
Librederm Patch Filler with Hyaluronic Acid Microneedles
The microneedles ensure the penetration of moisturizing ingredients into the skin. These patches are a kind of biorevitalization at home for the skin around the eyes. Their price is high, but they promise a corresponding effect. Patches are produced in Korea, and there they know exactly how to moisturize the skin well.
Paula's Choice Resist Hyaluronic Acid Booster Concentrate
Concentrated serum of the international star of the world of cosmetics - Paula Runner. It is assumed that you will not use it in its pure form, but add it to your usual care to give the creams additional moisturizing properties.
Japan Gals Pure 5 Essential Masks with Hyaluronic Acid
Japan Gals sheet masks have been on sale in Russia for a long time, and their assortment is increasing almost every month. These masks are produced in packs of 7 and 30 pieces, and they are designed for use in a course, which, of course, does not interfere with using them only from time to time. Masks with hyaluronic acid soften and moisturize the skin, and we don't expect more from hyaluronic acid.
Dior Lip Maximizer
The manufacturer promises to increase the volume of the lips due to the content of menthol and hyaluronic acid spheres in the gloss. We urge you not to harbor illusions about lip augmentation, but we cannot but admit: the gloss really moisturizes and cares for the lips.
