On the Instagram of the Cantor Fine Art gallery, located in Los Angeles, an action took place, in which designers came up with emojis for 18 famous artists and their works. Among them are "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Jan Vermeer, the crystal skull of Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol with a can of Campbell's soup, portraits of Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, Van Gogh and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

For a week, page subscribers left comments under each new post with the wishes of which of the authors they wanted to see captured in the emoji language. The gallery staff suggested starting the game with a post with an emoji version of René Magritte's famous surreal self-portrait "The Son of Man", where the face of a man in a bowler hat covers an apple.

Unfortunately, this is just an art project - there are no plans to include these symbols in the keyboard yet. However, among the standard emojis there is a frightened smile with hands pressed to the face, reminiscent of the face from the painting "Scream" by Edvard Munch, and a wave inspired by the engraving "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai.
