FOR THE HEADING "WARDROBE" we photograph beautifully, distinctively or oddly dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week, our heroine is the founder of the Table cafe Tofa Sokol.
For a long time, I had the wrong approach to buying things - I swept away everything I like, even if I already have something similar. Recently, I have a more conscious approach to shopping: it is better to buy one thing of good quality and at a high price than five hundred different things for three rubles, which I wear out the season and throw away.
My job almost involves a uniform. I am constantly in the kitchen - I cook, try, or spend half a day traveling around the city. Naturally, I choose comfort. Now it has become important for me what materials the thing is made of and how comfortable it will be for me. If I feel the slightest doubt, I don’t buy. I see no reason to spend large sums on rags, with the exception of bags, shoes and outerwear.
I love massive earrings and shiny things, but I often find it difficult to wear them. When I dress smartly, and even make up, I feel discomfort - I can take everything off, wash it off, change into almost pajamas and go about business right before leaving.
I am quite large, tall and with big breasts. Finding clothes isn't always easy. In the mass market, I wear the last but one size. Zara shirts end at my belly button and jeans end at my knees. It's the same story with shoes - size 41. That is, either the manufacturer does not produce such shoes, or everything has already been sold out. Shopping in Moscow is stressful for me, so 80% of my purchases are made online, but being in Europe I cannot deny myself a trip to COS and & Other Stories.
& Other Stories Shirt, Zara Pants, ASOS Shoes
When I saw this shirt, I realized that it was perfect. Sewn perfectly, the fabric is somehow very soft, the color is correct. I haven't found a better one yet. I bought the pants from Zara - I have these in two more colors. If the item fits perfectly, I can buy several copies at once in different colors. Shoes delight everyone, even men. In general, at ASOS I buy a lot of shoes, they are relatively good quality for the mass market.
COS shirt, vintage pants, ASOS shoes, Maya Kotelnitskaya earrings
It's the same story as with the blue shirt - the perfect white shirt for me. I bought the pants in Brooklyn at the Beacon's Closet for $ 5. In general, I rarely buy vintage, but if I do, then only in Berlin, Paris and the USA, there are really interesting things there. I think every girl should have a pair of red shoes.
Vintage Blazer, Zara Pants, ASOS Top, Topshop Earrings
This is one of my favorite jackets. Was bought at a huge vintage market in New York and cost 15 bucks. I love these earrings very much, they are already six years old, everyone asks to give them to be vilified.
Kaftan no name, bracelet anna.m.objects
A caftan is a very dear thing to my heart. He is unique, and this is exactly what no one else has. It was brought to me by my young man from Uzbekistan - he grew up there and knows all the most secret places. I went to a special city where women hand embroider these drawings. The caftan is sewn from the finest silk threads. This thing is one of those that are left as a legacy to children and grandchildren.
I don't wear bracelets, but when I saw this one, I couldn't think of anything else. Anya has made a wonderful Fitzgerald collection, although for me these jewelry is associated with some kind of mystery or mysticism.
Cyrille Gassiline dress, H&M robe, Gucci loafers, YSL ring
For me, to be honest, there is one Russian designer - Kirill Gasilin. In my opinion, he did a great job. He sews dresses for any shape, and his size grid is large enough, which is important for many, including me. I bought a dressing gown in Israel - this collection was not brought here. I really like him. I call it "garden robe". Many people think that this is Gucci, they really turned out to be almost the same.
Vintage Dress, ASOS Shoes, Chanel Earrings
A little black dress for a big woman. One of my favorites. I bought it in Los Angeles. The beads fell out in some places, the pattern was broken, but it is still great. When I put it on, I think about the girl who wore the dress before me.
Jacket, Boots & Goggles - Acne Studios, ASOS Jeans, Monki T-shirt
The first leather jacket in my wardrobe, and I'm sure the last. This is a gift from my parents for graduation from university. I saw it in Tsvetnoy, but ordered it on the official website, the price difference was about $ 300, which was already a lot at that time.
My favorite jeans, sorry, they are not made in blue and blue. I monitored the boots in all fashionable online stores, I even thought to wait for the sale - but since my size is not easy, I decided not to pull. And I did the right thing, after a week there was not a single pair left.
Levi's Denim Jacket, ASOS Jeans, Monki T-shirt, Reebok Classic Sneakers
This is how I look almost every day. This is my grandfather's jeans. He brought her from the United States when he was studying there at Harvard - that is, she is over thirty years old. Perfect jacket, I wear it everywhere and always. Jeans are perfect for me too - real straight pants, what you need. I used to be crazy about sneakers, but then I realized that classics are classics, it makes sense to invest in them. This couple is one of the most beloved.
COS Coat, Jeans & Shoes - ASOS, Himère Mono Earring
I bought the coat in Milan. I buy all the things from COS only when I go to Italy. Once I got so many things that the cashier at the checkout asked: "Are you the first time in COS?" I replied that I was just from Russia and we do not have this store. She sighed sympathetically.
Down jacket Opening Ceremony х DKNY
This is all that I love: hypersize, glitters, people are happy. There were three of them in Moscow. It seems to me that nobody bought the remaining two.
Clutches COMME des GARÇONS
Such a mini-collection. Black bought in Chelsea in New York. They searched for a store for a long time, and then, when they found it, they were in Tokyo. The rest are a gift from a loved one.
Louis Vuitton bag
I don't know how old this bag is, it seems to be from the 60s. I brought it from San Francisco, which has some of the craziest vintage shops in the world.
Hermès Kelly Bag
It was inherited, her color is incredibly beautiful, and she is also suede, so I wear it carefully and rarely.
ASOS earrings, Himère pendant
The pendant is my favorite, also a gift. The first one was on threads, but it was torn from my neck, and Dina made a new one, completely on a chain. I wear it without taking it off.
I looked closely at loafers in Italy, tried them on in every second store, and eventually bought them in Moscow. Snatched the last pair.
