British artist Nina Cosford illustrated a new book about the life of Gabrielle Chanel, the founder of the legendary fashion house, who brought elements of a man's suit to women's fashion and immortalized a little black dress. In Coco Chanel: An Illustrated Biography, Chanel's biography is laid out through illustrations, text written by Zena Alcayat, and excerpts from the designer's letters and diaries. The story covers Chanel's entire life - from childhood in a shelter for the poor and unsuccessful attempts to become a singer, to opening her own hat studio and triumph in the fashion world.
The book's official release date is August 16, and the book signed by the illustrator can be bought on Nina Cosford's website for $ 18 or on Amazon for $ 8.5.
In addition to her book on Chanel, Cosford has worked on biographies of Frida Kahlo, Virginia Woolf and Jane Austen, and has created many wonderful illustrations based on the TV series Girls.
