The weekly Call Your Girlfriend podcast grew out of female friendship: journalist Anna Friedman and digital strategist Aminatu Sow live far apart and regularly call each other to discuss vital matters from the American elections to the PMS. In 2014, they decided to turn these friendly conversations into a podcast - luckily for all of us, as these outstanding girls clearly have something to say. Friedman writes a weekly column in New York Magazine about gender, politics and society, and Sow fights for women's rights in IT - for which she even made the Forbes "30 under 30" list.
“My professional fear number one is that people will read my text, gather after work, and one of them will say: 'Do you remember, and once it was interesting and relevant?” - says Friedman in an interview with Okreal. Judging by the popularity of Call Your Girlfriend, she shouldn't worry - it's one of the premier feminist podcasts in the male-dominated industry, with newsletters, Glossier and Squarespace ranked advertisers, media accolades and offline events. You can be sure: if after listening to "Call Your Girlfriend" you do not create your own podcast empire, then you will definitely decide to call your friends more often.
