Nevertheless, it still seems to many that cooking a dish more difficult than scrambled eggs requires some secret knowledge and a lot of free time, and for the uninitiated it is a complete headache. Simple life hacks, equally useful for beginners and advanced cooks, will help a little to ease your lot in the kitchen.
Give the bread freshness and crispiness
Moisten the bread with cold water and place it in the oven, preheated to 230 degrees, for 5-7 minutes.
Soften the oil quickly
Pour hot water into a glass, pour it out after 1 minute and cover with a glass of oil for 2 minutes.
Check the degree of doneness of the steak
When it is impossible to track the time of steak cooking and there is no culinary thermometer at hand, the "Okay" method comes in handy. Relax your hand and bring your thumb and forefinger together without pinching them. Touch the base of your thumb in the palm of your hand for a medium rare texture. Put your thumb and middle finger together, then check the steak - this should feel like a medium meat. Do the same with your thumb and pinky finger to check that the steak is well done.
Peel the tomatoes
Make a small cruciform incision in the skin without cutting into the flesh. Dip the tomato in boiling water for 10-15 seconds, and then in cold water for 1 minute. Now the skin will come off easily.
Remove bones from fish
Cut the base of the head on one side. Run your knife along the spine to cut the fillets off the bone. Hold the knife perpendicular to the spine and lift the meat off the belly so as not to pierce it. Do the same with the other half of the fish. Remove small bones with tweezers, and separate the edges with smooth cuts with a knife.
Wash the leek
Cut off the roots and peel off the top layer of the onion. Make two longitudinal cuts 5 cm from the base of the bulb - this will divide the stem into four parts. Now you can get rid of the leek from sand, earth and dust in multiple layers by rinsing it with water.
Peel boiled potatoes quickly
Before boiling the potatoes in their skins, make a circular cut in the skins, tracing an imaginary equator on the tuber. The finished potato will be easy to peel: just peel off the softened skin from it.
