Universal has released the first trailer for the BDSM melodrama Fifty Shades Darker, a sequel to the film based on the erotic bestseller by British writer E.L. James. It is hard to deny that this franchise has become a significant phenomenon in pop culture - however, the harm caused to readers of books and the first film about the strange relationship of a millionaire and a timid student far outweighs the positive effects like the destigmatization of BDSM practices and the motivation to experiment in sex life.
The film based on the second book of the erotic saga was directed by James Foley, who worked on the series House of Cards and the films Fear and Scam. The main characters are still played by Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, who, it seems, will never be able to get rid of the images of Anastacia Steele and Christian Gray. An important addition to the cast is Kim Basinger, she got the role of the former lover and mentor of the perverse millionaire.
The film will start showing in Russian cinemas on 9 February. If you're not looking to watch Fifty Shades of Gray and its sequel, check out our list of Doom fatal movies.
