The first trailer for the dramedy "Women of the 20th Century" by Mike Mills is released - stories about three women of different ages who grow up, fall in love and fight for the right to be themselves in Santa Barbara in the late 1970s. Annette Bening (American Beauty, Valmont, Mother and Child), Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon, I Am Sam, Criminal Minds) and independent film star Greta Gerwig ("Lady America", "Sweet Frances").
Bening plays a single mother, Dorothea, raising a teenage son: judging by the trailer, in the film, she will be her heroine as the main source of playful everyday wisdom like "Thinking about how happy you are - a sure way to depression" and "A broken heart is great for finding out there are many new things about the world”. Fanning's character is a tough girl from a neighboring yard, the eldest friend of Dorothea's son, and Gerwig's heroine is a punk rocker with red hair. The trailer tells almost nothing about the plot of the film, but the objects that appear in it - contraceptives, red lipstick and a bra lying on the floor - clearly hint at the sexual revolution, the main socio-cultural event of the 1970s.
In addition to Gerwig, Fanning and Bening, Alia Shokat, Laura Wiggins, Billy Crudup, John Billingsley and others starred in the film. The world premiere of "Women of the XX century" will take place on December 25, the release date in Russia is not yet known.
