Finding an activity that makes you happy is very important
About care and health
I am a project manager in marketing research, and also the mother of a little daughter. This means that there is very little time for everything else in my life, and I want to spend it only on the most pleasant and interesting things. My body and face used to be zones of "enhanced control". Throughout my youth, I had problems with hormones, I gained weight very easily, and the skin was always upsetting: acne on some parts of the face, peeling on others - a complete set.
Now health has returned to normal and there is no need to adhere to a certain diet. However, I continue to drink a lot of water and choose low-fat foods, simply because I love it. I also never eat fruit on an empty stomach and sweets - I save the pancreas. In general, my body care is more medical: I don’t eat anything that can provoke an attack of gastritis, don’t overload my back, don’t wear heels for a long time, don’t try to endure illnesses on my legs (although there is still something to work on). I try to pay more attention to myself.
The person stopped demanding control about a year ago - contraceptives solved most of the problems. I renew the cleansing foam once every couple of years, now it is a delicate Tony Moly, which, fortunately, can be bought at the nearest "Girlfriend". There is only one obligatory item in the care - Holy Land Sebo Derm moisturizer, it suits me very well, light and not at all greasy. I do masks a couple of times a week, either from white clay or fabric. In the summer I smear myself with sunscreen. True, I never got into makeup. At the age of 20, the skin reacted with rashes to any foundation, so only now I am slowly trying to get involved in this topic.
I spend all my free time on a really interesting topic - manicure. This hobby came to me in 2012, and although from time to time I rhetorically ask “when will he let me go?”, This is clearly a story for many years to come. Here is collecting, and color therapy, and creativity, and social life (we have our own party on Instagram, which from time to time occurs in real life) - so a lot of things tie me to varnishes. A manicure is such a quiet, subtle version of makeup. For a bright lipstick or eyeshadow, I need a lot of courage, they seem to immediately attract attention. Nails can be of any color, but at the same time they will not look flashy - express yourself as much as you like.
Finally, "the claw got stuck" when I found out about indie varnishes - small private brands. Most often, an indie brand is run by a man-orchestra: he comes up with colors, mixes varnishes, pours into bottles, runs an online store and social networks, communicates with fans, collects and sends orders. There is an option with outsourcing, when the author comes up with a shade and makes a test sample, and a professional laboratory prepares a large batch of varnishes for it. Brands that work on this principle are more often called not indie, but niche or boutique.
In indie varnishes there is a lot of practically fan art - varnish collections based on Doctor Who and Star Wars, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games and Sons of Anarchy. I joke that I can continue any topic of conversation with the phrase: "By the way, I have a nail polish about this!" In this format, it is no longer perceived as a cosmetics, but as a language or media. Another way to tell a story. You can talk about your impressions with words, pictures, music, photographs - or you can convey a story in color, bypassing words.
I devote time to nail care all the time. The most important thing for the cuticle is moisturizing with oil or balm, and this should be done several times a day. Ideally, after every contact with water and when going out into the cold. I have balms in jars, oil in a pencil, oil in a roller, stuffed all over my bags and pockets. My favorite is Badger Cuticle Care, the famous badger, but I regularly try new brands. Now they produce balms with a thousand scents, and it is a pity to be limited to one "badger". In severe cases (a very unpleasant burr or cut), I lubricate the affected area with Purelan, it softens and heals the skin. I file my nails only with a glass file, from time to time I remove the coarse skin around the nails ("side ridges") with a laser file. I walk over the tips of the nails with a polisher - this helps a little to fight flaking. Gradually I learned to always apply varnishes to the base, it's a pity that not from the very beginning! Don't be like me, use a base coat. I try to wear gloves more often for kitchen affairs, but this is where I lack discipline.
The main colors, without which my lacquer collection cannot be, are green, red and mint. I almost never wear barbie pink, fuchsia and raspberry, they make me somehow uncomfortable. The shape of the nails has not changed for many years - this is a "soft square". The corners of a well-defined square broke too often, and I don't perceive everything else on myself - my hands immediately itch to file the edge in a straight line.
From a certain moment, when I filled my hand and began to feel the material confidently enough, ideas for nail art began to appear in my head. So my hobby began another facet - the creative one. The joy that the picture in my head has turned into reality almost without distortion is an absolutely priceless thing, it enriches my life.
About favorite blogs
I read more than a hundred "nail" accounts on Instagram: most of all I love borsch_nails for an amazing sense of color and taste and narmai for crazy, brain-explosive designs. Subscribed to a couple of dozen blogs, favorites are those where the authors are not too keen on studio light and photoshop. For example, Beautygeek - this blog is run by two sisters, one is more about nails, the other about cosmetics in general. They always have the earliest OPI swatches and a wonderful, funny and light style - I really miss a Russian lacoblog with such a language. Another favorite is Lisa Cosmetic Sanctuary. I don't know when this woman is sleeping. Her profile describes quiet heroism in a couple of lines: “Liza, 33, is the mother of an energetic boy. A full-time accountant during the day, and a beauty blogger at night. " She gives out so many swatches per unit of time, as if she has six hands and 72 hours in a day. Kelly, Alena and Ida are the three best indie brand swatches for me, they show varnishes very truthfully. Kelly is more often under the sun, Ida and Alena - in diffused daylight.
It seems to me that it is very important to find something in life that makes you happy, and not let go of it. I was lucky to find it in something as simple as nail polish. When I go through my multi-colored bottles, when I cover my nails with another beautiful shade, when the design succeeds, I am completely happy.
