PARALLEL COMICS - YOUNG RUSSIAN PUBLISHING HOUSE, which mainly deals with translations of Marvel comics. However, their latest release is completely different. The company decided to experiment and asked a variety of authors (some of whom had never done comics) to come up with and draw short stories. Thus, Parallel Comics includes, among others, the work of Hopes & Fears product director Rita Popova and musician Katya Shilonosova. Here is an excerpt from the story based on the "Gangster Petersburg", created by Shilonosova and her colleague in the group Zhenya Gorbunov.
Parallel Comics is a collection of Russian comics by twelve author teams from all over Russia. This is a stitching of completely dissimilar stories, as if torn from different parallel worlds. In it, the thriller about werewolves by Sasha Pokhvalin is adjacent to the bilious and impudent comic strip about the detention center by the Tyumen artist Ivan Tatarinov.
For most of the teams I have worked with since last fall, this is a real debut - including for Katya Shilonosova, who, together with Zhenya Gorbunov, drew a completely insane and beautiful comic strip "ク ソ" dedicated to the series "Gangster Petersburg". This is a 30-page story about sausage monsters, Vyborg cannibals and Mari witches. It seems that such comics have not yet been made.
