“89 degrees is almost 90, almost a right angle, such an eternal striving for perfection: the world is not ideal, like all of us,” says the founder of the eponymous tableware brand Alexandra Polidovets. Less than a year ago, she became interested in ceramics in order to be distracted from her main work as an architect: "When you sculpt, you don't have to think about anything, this is a kind of meditation." Influenced by simple things, nature and architecture, Alexandra makes dishes from earthenware and white clay, she sculpts everything with her own hands, without using a potter's wheel, and then burns and covers with food glaze. The output is beautiful, touching and, in a good way, strange things: a flowerpot with an eye and a whole series of the same "big-eyed" plates, shiny and black as night mugs with thick walls, a flower vase that looks like a heart, and plates with quotes from the greats - from Bowie songs to Dmitry Vrubel's graffiti on the Berlin Wall.

Alexandra is from Minsk, but has been living in Moscow for several years now, where she is studying for a master's degree at the MARSH architecture school. In his free time, he paints with watercolors, shoots on film, reads books about space and sometimes gets tattoos for friends. Together with one of them - Vova - they make dishes 89 °: “Vova kneads clay for large orders, helps to trim the edges, transport, make a choice when I rush between several options. I believe that the 89 ° project is two people: me and him. Without his support, nothing would have happened."
