The Hollywood Reporter reports that Jennifer Lawrence will star in the biopic of Zelda Fitzgerald, the writer and wife of Francis Scott Fitzgerald, author of The Great Gatsby and a prominent representative of the “lost generation” celebrated by Hemingway. Fitzgerald called his eccentric wife "the first American emancipation." Leading a bohemian lifestyle, the spouses more than once fell on the pages of the gossip, and their relationship was marred by regular scandals. The new film will tell about the difficult life of the spouses and the gradually progressive mental disorder of Zelda, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1930.
Ron Howard (Inferno, A Beautiful Mind) plans to shoot the film, he is also the main producer of the project. The start date of filming and release of the film is not yet known. The Guardian writes that another film about Zelda Fitzgerald, entitled "The Beautiful and Damned", is currently in the works, in which Scarlett Johannson is to play the main role.
