FOR THE HEADING "WARDROBE" we photograph beautifully, distinctively or oddly dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is student Veronika Harutyunyan.
My style continues to evolve. It seems to me that fashion has little influence on him. For example, I loved the flared trousers and the way they fit me before they became popular and filled all the stores. The only trendy thing that you really want is boots. I am studying to be an architect and urban planner, and I worked as a stylist for three years. For a long time I could not decide which path to choose. In the end, I chose architecture and I am gradually finishing my work as a stylist - but I don’t think that this will diminish my passion for clothes.
To be honest, lately the number of my trips has decreased - and purchases, accordingly, have decreased. Almost all the things that I purchased three or four years ago, I still wear. Looking through my wardrobe, I realized that I have a lot of things from Zara - and there is a simple explanation for this. I have lived for a long time in Kiev, where there is no H&M, Uterque, Uniqlo, Monki, and Topshop has a very meager choice. Mango and Zara took the entire blow. Now I hardly buy the mass market, but the old one has not disappeared from the closet either. Recently, I have been supporting Ukrainian and local designers - I admire these people. Many of them became my friends when we worked together. I respect their work, so I try to buy their things more often.
Mango pants, grandma knitted sweater, Kenzo sneakers
These are the pants that I took from my mom, made of cool stretchy material. I used to avoid stretch, but I love these pants. They have a strange length and are quite difficult to combine with other things, but that's okay. The sweater is handmade, knitted by my grandmother. I really love the engraving "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai. I have a sad story about how, having arrived in New York for a couple of days, I really wanted to look at this painting in the Metropolitan Museum, and at that moment it was removed to storage and was advised to come in a month.
Sneakers are a gift from a friend. They were too small for me - after a hundred meters of walking in them it became unbearable. I still tortured myself, so I like them. I am subscribed to many groups on Facebook that sell unsuitable clothes. And in one of them I come across an ad: the girl was selling exactly the same ones, but one size larger, because they are too big for her. I wrote with round eyes - "Let's change." We have changed and since then both are very happy.
Zara jumpsuit, Kamenskakononova bag, Gucci sneakers
I really fell in love with overalls - they are comfortable and versatile. If you need to run away somewhere, then this is the best option, since you do not need to think about possible combinations. Personally, it is very difficult for me to find a suitable model - not everyone fits well. I bought this one at the highest possible discount. I wear it almost without taking it off. The silver bag is from a series of a charitable project. Some of the money from the purchase went to a good cause.
Zara skirt, unknown brand shirt, Prada sneakers
I found the shirt at home - its origin is unknown to me. Apparently, she is male, I just love such. Socks - Uniqlo. I have a large foot size, so I can take socks in the men's department. When I fill out a questionnaire when buying, in the column “What would you like to add to the women's assortment” I always write: the same palette of socks as in the men's department. Prada sneakers are time-tested. I just can't part with them.
Second-hand dress, Fiorelli bag, Play Comme des Garçons x Converse sneakers
The dress is an old gift, I think it's second-hand. I didn't wear it for a long time, and then I thought it was a great option for the holidays. It shines beautifully and turns out great in photographs. Sneakers are a birthday present. It seems that they have ceased to be produced and they have remained only in some European stores. Thinking what to do about this problem. I really wanted a round bag of a rigid shape and was looking for a similar one for a long time.At the beginning of summer, a friend gave me this for my birthday - I wear it every day. Friends give me the best gifts.
Vest from the transition, Petit Bateau jacket, Benetton skirt, Uterque shoes
The vest was bought in the passage to "Pushkinskaya", when things were still being sold there. It is very warm, but the more you wash it, the worse it warms and the paler the stripes. It cost about 500 rubles, so it's not so bad. The jacket was presented by a friend. The warmest thing I have that has recently been in trouble. After the washing machine, all the fluff got lost - I almost burst into tears from resentment. Life hack saved the day - after washing with tennis balls, it turned out almost better than it was before. If someone has done the same stupid thing as me, this method may help. I bought the skirt in the Kiev commission store Goodbuy Fashion. I myself sometimes bring things there that don't suit me.
Zara skirt, Next top, turtleneck from Dixie store, Kamenskakononova for Braska shoes
I got the skirt when they just started to actively sell things from neoprene. I haven't worn it for two years, so I got tired of it, but recently I returned it to the wardrobe. It happens so often with things. The turtleneck is a find from Dixie. I somehow left the house to buy water, and left there with a turtleneck. There were different colors, but I took this one. I think I'll come back. The shoes seem bulky, but in fact they are my most comfortable pair of heels. You can walk in it endlessly.
Coats & other stories
The only thing & other stories that I allowed myself to take on the shoot. Purchased in Milan. Recently I saw it from dealers for a price twice as high as I bought two years ago. Unfair trade.
Zara dress, Sleeper robe, Chanel boots, Parfois earrings
The dress is winter, warm and comfortable. The dressing gown is from the Ukrainian Sleeper brand, respected by me. The founders Katya and Asya were the first to create pajamas and dressing gowns in which you can and should boldly go out, which is what half the world is doing, including me.
It’s me shirt by Dina Linnik, Max & Co skirt, Saint Laurent glasses, Dr. Martens
Every time I wear this shirt, I get feedback from others. The peak was the moment when they approached me on the street and said what a beautiful shirt I have. In Europe and America they do it calmly, but we do not. I really like plaid and pleating - this skirt fits together. The only thing is that I'm worried that she's a little short for me. I looked at these "Martin" for a long time. I perfectly understand that this is not an extremely fashionable thing, especially the usual black ones - and yet I have never had low ones. These are the best shoes for winter and for running in them to work and study in the slush.
Grandma knitted sweater, Forever 21 jacket, Dolce & Gabbana skirt, Zara shoes
The jacket is my only purchase at Forever 21, brought it from Washington. I didn't wear it for a long time, I just remembered it recently. I bought it for ridiculous money at a thrift store - it is very well made. The perfect base item that doesn't get too much attention.
RCR Khomenko shirt, Acne jeans, Marni shoes
I bought this thing of Yasi Khomenko with about the same face as on the shirt itself. I already have a couple of these and I will not stop. You can try Acne jeans in second-hand shops or spend money once in the brand's store, but it's worth it. They are of such quality that I have not bought new ones for three years. Once I got a job at Ukrainian Vogue as an assistant to Yulia Pelipas. On the first shoot while meeting, she drew attention to my shoes and said that she had the same ones. Then I thought: maybe it helped me get a job then?
Litkovskaya cardigan, Comme des Garçons Play T-shirt, Zara skirt, Play Comme des Garçons x Converse sneakers
This cardigan is probably from a very old collection - I bought it at a thrift store. I have been wearing it for the third year and nothing happens to him. Not a single thread came out.
Tiffany and unknown brand chains
The pendant with an asterisk was given to me by my uncle and my wife for my fourteenth birthday. This is a very important thing for me. Another decoration initially consisted of a cross, an anchor and a heart, symbolizing faith, hope and love. In general, the anchor was lost and now I say that there is no more hope.
Earrings - a family jewel, a gift from a grandmother
One earring darkened more than the other. They should be cleaned, but they have a complex shape and I'm even afraid to carry them somewhere, so as not to spoil them.
Badges - a gift and from "Garage"
The green heart is a gift from friends brought from Copenhagen. I cling to him for everything that I want to turn into Comme Des Garçons. I really like the heart as a symbol, and the inscription on the Garage badge also just drove me crazy. This is very close to me.
Weepin badge set
Weepin is our project with Olya Malyshenko, our outlet. This is the first collection with almost its full complement, plus a new “Eye” badge from collaboration with Yasya Khomenko. We are preparing the next collection and do not plan to stop.
