Category "ROOM" dedicated to the place in which a person spends most of his time. It can be absolutely any space: a huge kitchen in which the hero works and rests, an art gallery, which has become the second home to its owner, or just a living room in a one-room apartment, which is at the same time an office, a bedroom and a secret place. A space in which a person is able to focus on himself and his business and not feel like a participant in the eternal race of a big city. Our new issue includes clothing designer Katya Yaemurd and her studio in the artist's house on Vavilova street.
I've always liked the area between Profsoyuznaya and University. It is calm here, and I take a break from the center - besides, everything you need is nearby. It's great to skate in the summer as the asphalt is flat everywhere. The market with really delicious food across the street from home is also a big advantage. I lived in this place ten years ago, when I first came to work in Moscow. Then she studied and worked in Spain for several years, and when I returned back, I began to look for apartments here. At first, it did not work out: I began to rent a room in the center and a studio at Electrozavod. In August, I urgently needed to move: it turned out that my friend was re-renting premises in the artist's house. We immediately agreed, and after a month I moved. So I managed to combine the workspace and living room - it's very convenient. Why, I have always dreamed of this.

Home for me is a place of power where I can put my own order; the place where I am most pleasant to be. It so happened that several of the neighbors are my good acquaintances. This is an accident, but I'm glad of it. I love to receive guests: all my friends are delighted with this studio. A couple of times we had large-scale movie screenings with a projector. There have been no parties here yet, but they are planned. I didn't change much when I moved, except I rearranged the furniture, added another table and hung the curtains. Large windows, of course, are the main plus. There is a lot of space, and it is convenient that there is a mezzanine.
It happens that I have to store rolls of fabric until they go to production, so I need a lot of free space. To make everything truly perfect, you need to completely redo some of the things, and to restore something - there has been no repair here since Soviet times. If I decide to stay here for a long time, I will definitely take care of it. Maybe I'll just paint it all over white. I would also like to add a large mirror and carpet. And so I have not bought anything from furniture for a long time - the necessary basic things from IKEA are not considered. Cluttered space is my worst nightmare, I try not to hoard things. I love little things, but I never get them. The only thing is, I always move with my favorite books. So the rule of "getting along with little" is, perhaps, about me.

About combining space
The studio disposes both to rest and to work equally strongly. I have to negotiate with myself all the time: for example, during the week I do not lower my hammock. When I have time, I sew myself, mostly dresses for my friends, and also work out new models and details. I used to have more time for this, now I can devote a day or two a week to it. I am sincerely happy if my friends-colleagues, familiar designers, or simply those for whom fashion design is a hobby come to visit me, and they sew in parallel with me. Not so boring and motivating.
Katya associates shells and stones with magic, which is why there are so many of them at home.
Katya can't even move this stone - it was here when the designer moved. Katya admits that his presence makes her especially happy: “He reminds me of trips to the rocks. From ten to 22 years old, I was seriously involved in sports climbing"
