FOR THE HEADING "WARDROBE" we photograph beautifully, distinctively or oddly dressed people wearing their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is the designer of the Turbo Yulia brand Julia Makarova.

Clothes for me are, first of all, a mood. I think my style immediately betrays a creative person: I love strange things, kind of artifacts that have a story behind them. I try to reflect, rethink popular culture, stereotypes, cliches. I am impressed by notable characters who build a whole world around themselves and live by their interests and oddities.
For me, comfort in clothes is important, I do not like it when something restricts my body. I rarely buy things, and if I do, I often do it for myself. I can go to stores just for inspiration, and it can be workwear outlets, military stores, department stores with goods for sports, something specialized. In stores, I usually take basic models - I love Uniqlo because you feel like in the world of the future, where everyone has long been wearing uniforms made of the same things.
Turbo Yulia coat, hoodies and ankle boots - from second hand, Levi's jeans

I made the coat from homespun rugs for an exhibition in London - I brought one of them from Pavel Pepperstein's workshop. The coat is very heavy, but really artful. I have been altering jeans for a long time, since the days of the institute: this model is another experiment.
Jeans, hoodie and string bag -
second-hand, Levi's jeans, Raf Simons x adidas sneakers, Decathlon glasses

This is my working bow - and I feel like a working bow in it. I fell in love with the string bag: it does not take up space in my pocket, but at the right time it always helps out. Robust and super spacious.
Jacket is a gift
second-hand hoodies, altered Denis Simachev jeans, Reebok sneakers, Bezous bag

The jacket came from Misha's concierge: he is friends with many neighbors and even gives out gifts. A thing specially for going to the White Clouds and Path to Me store - it is easy to mimic the locals in it. Bag - friend and designer Ruslan Bezus with Ultraman print.

I love Berendonka for a long time. This most cheerful image scares away angry people and gives joy to others - and is also great for a children's matinee.
Turbo Yulia Dress, Second Hand Cap, Nike Air Max 95 Sneakers

I made this dress from a duvet cover that I found in a thrift store. The Backstreet Boys remind of school when posters like this print were pasted on the walls. Such an artifact is a great success, in general I love the aesthetics of the 90s for its recklessness and freedom.
Turbo Yulia dress, Bartenev Animals hat, second-hand ankle boots, Decathlon glasses

This queen of sequins bow is a kind of holiday camouflage. It was really funny when, at the New Year's Eve party, I completely merged with the silver rain interior. The hat was presented by beloved Andrey Bartenev - it is made from pop plush Mickey Mouse.
Cloak and dress - Turbo Yulia, STRD by Volta Footwear sneakers, Stussy cap

The red dress is my rarity. It is made from D&G jeans, and its print advertises gum for a crisp white smile. STRD bought crazy, almost clown-like sneakers when I accidentally went to UK Style, they make any look informal.
Turbo Yulia top, second-hand shorts, nameless visor, STRD by Volta Footwear sneakers

The top was sewn from a towel. At one time, I collected cuts of fabrics with bright prints, capes, oilcloths, tablecloths and made things from them - this one is from the same series. The trick is that thanks to this top you don't have to take a towel to the beach - this is a two-in-one option. I bought the visor at the Sevastopol hotel, only later noticed that there were also retractable glasses.
Turbo Yulia Jersey Suit, London Fog Trench Coat, Nike Air Max 95 Sneakers, Stussy Cap, IKEA Bag

I bought a basic black trench coat at Udelka. It fits well into the wardrobe, and it also has a very soft surface that you want to stroke all the time.IKEA bags are my love, as I always carry bulky things. Air Max sneakers were given to me by Nike - I wanted to take them myself, but somehow I did not dare. Because of flat feet, I spend 99% of the time in sports shoes and carefully monitor it to make it as comfortable as possible. This model has a cool and soft lift - they spring when walking, which is very comfortable.

The road worker's jacket is the result of my passion for workwear. The most interesting thing here is the reaction of people, for example, at the airport, when they do not understand who you are and what service you belong to. People are used to not noticing those in bright and acidic overalls, and automatically perceive you as a staff.
Turbo Yulia raincoat, second hand hoody, altered Denis Simachev jeans, Nike Air Max 95 sneakers

A raver raincoat with reflective stripes ensures you won't be seen in the party photo. And if you want to take it off, it will easily fit into your pocket. In general, I love raincoats, because you don't have to bother with them, what to wear: a raincoat will cover everything and help you look spectacular.
