In the spring I want to become more energetic more being in the fresh air and just doing something useful for yourself. Regardless of whether you managed to start fulfilling your New Year's promises in January, now is the time to improve your habits. We have selected ten subjects and activities that will help make your home more comfortable, improve sleep and mood - and therefore, have a beneficial effect on physical and mental health.
Fresh flowers are an excellent interior decoration: they smell good and contribute to the spring mood like nothing else. The main thing is to choose a convenient place for the vase, so that in the event of a fall, for example, a laptop will not be hurt. In order not to run to the nearest kiosk all the time, you can immediately subscribe and receive fresh bouquets every week.
In dry climates, a humidifier is essential for skin, eye and throat comfort. Some humidifiers can be supplemented with aromatic oils to spread your chosen scent along with the water vapor. The main thing is not to add too many oils and regularly ventilate the room so as not to get a headache instead of the desired relaxation.
Mini garden with greenery
The easiest way (and sometimes the only possible, for example, in a rented apartment) to make your home more environmentally friendly is a general cleaning and an increase in the number of plants in pots. At the same time, landscaping can be not only decorative, but also practical if you grow mint, basil, rosemary and other herbs at home that are useful in the kitchen. In order not to force the windowsill with scattered pots, you can use a set for growing seven plants at once, with a special lamp and a control panel.
Velcro mini lamps
If earlier it was necessary to think about the lighting in the closet even at the stage of repair, drilling the walls and laying wires, now this issue is solved silently and without tools: it is enough to buy small LED lamps and glue them in the right places. They are either finger-activated or motion-sensitive (door opening) and provide enough light to save time when choosing clothes or squint when trying to find something in the kitchen cupboard.
Simple timer on a magnet
It would seem that timers have outlived their usefulness with the advent of smartphones - but in reality, turning the dial to the desired value is faster and easier than opening the application every time. A timer that sticks to any metal surface can help you time the time to get up and stretch, do eye exercises, or stop hanging out on Facebook and get back to work. If you, as the author of this text, are able to burn even simple buckwheat to coals, forgetting about it, the timer will become an indispensable assistant.
Comfortable work chair
If you spend a lot of time at your desk, you should think about your back health: sitting for a long time is the main risk factor for intervertebral hernias and other problems with the spine. When choosing a new chair, it makes sense to study the ratings and, of course, try to sit in suitable options. A good chair is expensive, but it will be with you for many years. Another option is the so-called chair - posture corrector, the use of which should be discussed with your doctor beforehand. Sitting on a fitness ball while you work is not a good idea: while it does help to engage your back and abs, your arms and shoulders are unsupported.
Handicrafts are a great way to revitalize fine motor skills and thinking while at the same time promoting the formation of neural connections in the brain. In addition, this is an opportunity to distract from the screens, although the eyes will still be strained (take care of good lighting).Along with embroidery, you can listen to podcasts or audiobooks - or just relax and take this activity as a meditative one. If you like the process, but it was always unclear where to put the traditional embroidered flowers later, we inform you that now you can find many patterns for embroidery for every taste, including with body-positive designs or feminist quotes.
Organizers for wires
No matter how hard the developers try, it is still impossible to make all devices wireless - and those that transmit data over the air need to be charged from an electrical outlet or USB port. Wires on the floor or under a table increase the risk of snagging, contributing to dust build-up, and just annoying - but you can keep these to a minimum by using organizers. The simplest option is a box with holes, which holds the bulk of the wires (for example, behind the TV). On the lower surface of the desktop, you can glue a clamp that will not allow the wires to dangle in the air, and a single Velcro clamp will come in handy on the bedside table near the bed - then the cable from the smartphone will not fall to the floor.
Memory Foam Pillow
We often talk about the importance of sleep hygiene: it's best to go to bed at the same time, the curtains should be dark, the pajamas should be comfortable (it's best to sleep naked), and the bedding should be fresh. It is best to choose pillows with synthetic fillers: natural ones are more likely to cause allergies, and are also an excellent breeding ground for bacteria and insects. Among synthetic ones, there are also better and worse pillows - and the best ones are those filled with latex or shape memory foam; they are more expensive than usual, but they do not deform much longer, so they will be a good investment in your health.
Convenient food containers
To put things in order in the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets, it makes sense to buy not one or two, but a couple of dozen containers, ideally identical and with interchangeable lids. They can store cereals and pasta, sweets or already prepared food - but the main thing is that they help organize space and save time. If you want to reduce the use of plastic, opt for glass containers. The foil for wrapping sandwiches also has an eco-friendly alternative - reusable beeswax-impregnated cotton wrappers.
