With the arrival of spring, the aroma palette changes around, and in your own wardrobe you want to add scents that will organically fit into the atmosphere. Our perfume critic Ksenia Golovanova chose seven truly spring fragrances that can easily change the mood - and are worth a lot of money.

The Smell of Weather Turning

Lush

2800 RUB

for 30 ml

“The weather is changing” - one name is enough for all Byronic natures, who in winter missed not so much warmth as thunderstorms, prick up their noses. The Smell is cleverly built on two accords that create a potential difference between the points of this fragrant field, spring and green: the first is creosote, greasy mud and last year's leaves warmed by the spring sun, the second is mint, camphor smells of wild herbs. No Relax Melodies application can replace the May thunderstorm, but The Smell of Weather Turning can: there is no deeper and more fragrant puddle in today's perfumery.

Eau des Jardins

Clarins

1170 RUB

for 100 ml

In addition to serums, creams, blush and lip glosses, Clarins produces unexpectedly convincing aromatherapy products: the brand's collection, for example, has an excellent line of Relax, which smells of basil and petitgrain - leaves and young twigs of bitter orange, and the famous Eau Dynamisante, stuffed with essential oils water that combines the functions of care and perfume (this is a classic chypre).

Eau des Jardins belongs to the same chimerical genre - something moisturizes there, but mostly smells, and great: if you are looking for a green, fruity-currant rose in the spirit of the classic Diptyque L'Ombre dans l'Eau, but for less money, you a pleasant surprise awaits.

L'Eau de Chloé

Chloé

1999 rub

for 30 ml

Here is a rare example of a flanker that turned out better than the original: if the 2008 Chloé is practically unrecognizable in the host of other “luxury” roses with lychee syrup, like a witch in the circle of Gogol's drowned women, then L'Eau, which came out four years later, is smart green chypre with a rose in the buttonhole.

The sparkling top fizzes and shoots sparks of lemonade, practically bubbles on the skin; barely shot, as the peppery-citrus freshness gives way to a large and skillfully shaded rose, behind which trails a beautiful, slightly bitter chypre trail. The fragrance is either not in demand, or is about to be discontinued: in most chain stores, the wonderful "Water" is sold for a penny.

Le Monde Est Beau

KENZO

from 3592 rub

FOR 50 ML

Le Monde Est Beau (not to be confused with Ça Sent Beau in a similar bottle) appeared in the mid-1990s - the golden age of Kenzo perfumery, fascinated by large forms from a biology textbook. Around the same time, the Jungle trio rolled out, or rather, with a wild roar, rolled out onto the green clearing, which eventually survived not entirely: the company’s managers shot down the “Tiger” in the early 2000s, leaving only a couple of “Elephants”.

Le Monde Est Beau, however, holds on - to the delight of lovers of real, unsweetened perfumed grapefruit and natural tomato tops, who have not yet realized their separation from the earth. Green aroma with a recognizable scent of a summer cottage.

Cristalle

CHANEL

from 4241 rub

FOR 60 ML

There are two "Crystals": eau de toilette and perfumery - we are writing about the first. It was released in the mid-1970s, but has not lost its herbal freshness since then: all the citruses and pale flowers of the first Cristalle are covered with translucent greens, like precious paintings in storage - a silk screen that protects the honey glow of the Renaissance. Sultry, peach-floral eau de parfum with the same name, but a fundamentally different olfactory profile, Chanel was probably released so that Cristalle - green, sonorous - was bought not only in the spring.

Un Jardin Mystique

Brocard

395 RUB

for 70 ml

In this section, we have repeatedly called perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour a rock star of the fragrant world (if not in words, then to himself for sure), a person who set the standards for many perfume genres, and a couple of the latter even came up with, as they say, in one test tube …

As a star, Duchaufour regularly receives big or potentially hype themes from customers: echoing incense, columnar roses, exotic woods and all kinds of strange flowers that you can't find in the glass on the corner - all this he succeeds perfectly. What does Duchaufour do, having received an order for an everyday lily of the valley, even if it grew up in a kind of "mysterious garden"? It gives it an electric charge and saturates the garden air with thunderstorm ozone. Water, mint, the spicy scent of sour, spring earth chomps underfoot.

Les Amoureux de Peynet

MOLINARD

from 2880 rub

FOR 100 ML

In the 1950s and 1960s, the French graphic artist Raymond Payne created a whole universe of Lovers, consisting of hearts, doves and gazebos; at the sight of his drawings, a modern person immediately has a desire to donate blood for sugar, but in post-war Europe these simple codes of happiness and an appeal to internal life - as opposed to external, torn apart by wars - were read in a completely different way.

It is not known why the Molinard company decided to devote another scent to this generally vintage story, but the composition turned out to be completely timeless: this is how the classic French cocktail of Alsatian cremant and verbena tea smells, ordered at the bar a moment after the salary text message.
