October is considered Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In this regard, H&M announced the release of a special line of underwear dedicated to women fighting breast cancer around the world. The collection includes sports bras, padded bras and bralets.
The Swedish brand was inspired by the story of an H&M employee who survived cancer. She could not find inexpensive, stylish and functional underwear when she needed it, so they decided to help her and other women who faced a similar problem.
“Many women who have had breast removal surgery use a prosthesis as a replacement. Therefore, bras for such women should have a special pocket for the prosthesis. In the process of creating this lingerie, we focused on form and comfort. The models were developed in collaboration with women who have had breast cancer and have one of the glands removed. The difference from a regular bra is that the models from the Close To My Heart collection cover a larger area of the breast, and also have a special pocket for a prosthesis,”the company representatives said.
The cost of one model starts at twenty-five dollars, and the sale will be carried out through the brand's website. All proceeds from the sale of the Close To My Heart collection will go towards funding research for the American Cancer Society.
