More than ten years have passed since the release of the last Harry Potter book, but interest in the universe has not faded away. The highly anticipated Pokémon Go-like augmented reality game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite launched this weekend. There is nothing strange about the similarity - both games are made by Niantic. The plot and mechanics here, however, are still different: in Wizards Unite, players are fighting an unknown "calamity" due to which magic is manifested in the world of Muggles - and the world of wizards is under threat of disclosure. In the game, you need to explore the area around, collect items (you can find, for example, a snitch), brew potions, cast spells (you have to use your finger to depict the movement of a magic wand on the screen) and fight evil. As the game progresses, you have to choose a profession - you can become an obscurantist, a professor, or study magical creatures. There are also portals that allow you to travel to another point in the magical world (of course, virtual). Much depends on the weather and time: for example, how often you find certain ingredients of potions is influenced by the time of day and the weather, and werewolves in the game appear only on the full moon.
In Russia, the game has not yet officially launched - but fans are already looking for ways to bypass the restrictions. In addition, the game is already officially working in many countries - so it remains to be hoped that the Russian launch is not far off.
