In August, the Moscow project "Sparkle" released the album "A Virgin in Trouble", named after the famous trail of the same name. We present a video for the second single from it - "Take and Burn", which the vocalist Yulia Led, together with director Katya Bolovtsova, prepared during self-isolation - the shooting took place in the Losiny Ostrov National Park.

The song "Take and Burn" is dedicated to my most stupid trait - I am a great "evader". If something infuriates, does not ask, falls apart, then I just run. This is a song that captures a state in which there is no strength to resist. "Take and Burn" is a track about the moment of weakness experienced by everyone who has ever tried to do something on his own. Until a certain moment, you are driving on the jet fuel of self-motivation, you are ready to convince the whole world that you are right. But time passes (second, month, year) - and you begin to doubt what you were sure of. I just want to go to the fire, but not in the struggle for my beliefs, but just so that they finally get behind you. The entire album "Sparkle" "Virgin in Trouble" is dedicated to weaknesses - mine personally and, probably, someone else's. I will be glad if someone responds.
Each video "Sparkle" is an attempt to tell how to listen to this music and what to do with it. The heroine of the video constructs something like a fire out of improvised means. I am trying to remind here (first of all to myself) that the most important spectacle some seven centuries ago was a public execution, so there is an element of a deadly number in every public speech. “I went on stage - be kind, die. Or pretend. Why else are we gathered here? " - as if speaking a voiceover.
The video "Take and Burn" was filmed in the forest, which is a step from my house. The forest, of course, is extraordinary - this is the Losiny Ostrov National Park. It's funny that before quarantine I did not know that these super-tall pines, lakes and Nature with a capital letter are so close. When it became dangerous to leave home for the city, daily walks in the pine forest made me, it seems, even a little different. For three months I watched spring turn into summer.
The video was directed by Katya Bolovtsova, with whom we are already working on the third video for "Sparkle". It is important for me that this is a woman's work, I like her female gaze, a very soft vision. It was Katya who discerned the story in the abruptly filmed footage, assembled it for editing. Most of the shots were taken with two very old cameras, this makes the greens magical and the forest enchanted.
The single artwork was designed by cool illustrator Veronica Moore. I found Veronica in the course of a merciless and senseless Instagram scrolling and realized that the world in her pictures perfectly falls into the sensations of the new album. The idea of uniting talented artists around the "Sparkle" project seems to me super important.
