Blueberry tea is a drink that is brewed in most cases from the leaves and young shoots of common or myrtle-leaved blueberries, but the addition of dried or fresh fruits to the raw material is also allowed. Used as a medicine and to quench thirst. Smell - berry, taste - sweetish, slightly tart, with a slight sourness; color - red, purple, pink. Regular consumption of blueberry tea will help normalize type 2 diabetes and reduce blood glucose levels in type 1 diabetes.
Procurement of raw materials for blueberry tea
The collection of bio raw materials for making blueberry tea is carried out at the time of flowering of the plant. Many people pick the leaves at the same time as the berries, but this is absolutely wrong. Such a brew contains the maximum amount of sugars and tannins and a minimum of chlorophyll and, as a rule, does not bring any benefit in most cases, but it will be useful for people with a tendency to diarrhea.
To prepare raw materials, you need to cut off the blueberry shoots along with the top of the stems, and not individual leaves. Only plants from ecologically clean areas are suitable, because they are able to accumulate nitrates from the soil and chemical compounds scattered in the air. The twigs are sorted, removing the damaged parts, washed with running water and dried. If the bushes are sprinkled with dust, then it is better to soak the branches, and only then rinse them to get rid of contamination.
In an industrial environment, bio-raw materials are processed on a unit with a magnet to exclude the presence of metal particles. When harvesting at home, you have to do the inspection yourself.
Drying blueberry leaves for brewing is carried out in the following ways
- on parchment, in the shade, in a ventilated area;
- in bundles, hanging;
- in a vegetable dryer, spreading in one layer, at 55 ° C;
- in the oven, spread out on a baking sheet, at 50 ° C, opening the door.
How blueberry tea is made
- Separate the leaves from the dried shoots. Fold separately. In industrial production, they are pressed.
- The stems are crushed as small as possible, you can into powder.
- Combine 2 ingredients and put in a tin can or cloth bag.
The tea leaves should be stored in a dark, dry place, no longer than 1 year. If the workpiece could not be used during this time, it will have to be disposed of - the useful properties are not preserved longer.
If you want to make blueberry tea with berries, then keep in mind that they are harvested during ripening, dried in the oven or in a vegetable dryer at 60-65 ° C. The special drying plant resembles a Russian stove in action. The quality is checked by squeezing the berries in your hands - they should not stick together into a lump.
Since the parts of the plant are harvested separately, it is better to combine them directly when making tea. Several berries are added to 1 serving - this increases the medicinal properties of the drink and improves the taste.
If there are problems with the intestines - digestive disorders, a tendency to diarrhea, then it is better to harvest tea from blueberry leaves at the same time as picking berries. Such bio-raw materials contain more tannins and have pronounced astringent properties. The taste of the resulting drink is more astringent.
If there is no time to harvest plant materials, you can purchase them at the pharmacy. The price of blueberry tea in Ukraine is from 40 hryvnia per 100 g in loose form and 75-80 hryvnia for the same amount, packaged in bags. In Russia, bulk tea costs from 80 rubles, packaged - from 250. Correctly dried shoots have a greenish tint.
common or myrtle-leaved blueberries were obtained because grazing cows gave preference to them over other types of green spaces - the Latin "vacca" translates as "cow". The Slavic name comes from the quality of "blackening" the hands and mouth after consumption - not only berries have this property, but also a strong infusion of leaves.
