For example, a salad with tongue, cabbage and cucumbers can surprise any gourmet. The basic component of the food is tongue (pork or beef). The most important thing is to prepare the main ingredient correctly, i.e. boil in water with the addition of salt, spices and bay leaf. Then you will get a real delicacy that will go well with different products. For example, with mushrooms, ham, cheese, cabbage, corn, beans, cucumbers … Before you start preparing a dish, we will learn the intricacies of preparing a tongue for a salad.

  • The frozen tongue should be thawed by leaving it on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator overnight.
  • If defrosting time is short, leave it at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
  • Rinse the thawed or chilled tongue with cold running water, put it in a saucepan, pour water so that it covers the meat, and boil the offal.
  • To preserve all the taste, place your tongue in boiling water. From the high temperature, a layer of cooked protein forms on the entire surface of the product, which will prevent the release of internal juices. The juice will not stand out into the broth, but will remain in the tongue, which makes it especially tasty.
  • Along with the tongue, put the onion, carrots and salt in a saucepan.
  • Boil the meat with a minimal boil.
  • The cooking time is 2-2.5 hours, but this depends on the size of the tongue.
  • 10 minutes before the end of cooking, put bay leaves and black peppercorns in a saucepan.
  • Put the boiled tongue immediately into a deep bowl and cover with cold water. The contrast bath will make it easier to peel off the coarse top skin it is covered with.
