Amaranth oil has valuable beneficial properties due to the fact that it is obtained by cold pressing by crushing amaranth seeds. The product can be used not only in the treatment of diseases, but also in cosmetology. Amaranth oil has a unique biochemical composition: it contains up to 70% of poly- and monounsaturated fatty acids (linolenic, oleic, linoleic, palmitoleic, arachidonic), up to 9% of phospholipids, up to 8% of squalene, about 2% of vitamin E and phytosterols, carotenoids, bile acids, vitamin D, macro- and microelements (copper, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium).
Amaranth oil can be obtained not only from seeds, for this purpose other parts of the plant are used: flowers, leaves, stems. It has a rather pleasant smell and nutty taste. The product is incredibly nutritious and healthy, which is why it is always popular in cooking, traditional medicine, methods of losing weight and cosmetology, in particular, in skin care for the face and hands.
How does amaranth oil work?
The effectiveness of this product lies, first of all, in the effect of squalene on the cells of the dermis (this useful substance is much more than in other oils of plant origin, for example, in olive oil - only 0, 2–0, 8% of squalene, while in amaranth - eight%). By the way, squalene was found in 1916 in the liver of a shark, and later scientists were able to find this substance in wheat germ oil, flaxseed, cottonseed, olive and amaranth oils.
A colorless viscous liquid is one of the main components of the dermis (skin), having a beneficial effect on it:
- Promotes adequate hydration and protects the skin;
- Prevents the development of cancer cells;
- Saturates skin cells with oxygen;
- It prevents the penetration of free radicals, thereby slowing down the aging of the skin.
In addition to squalene, it is worth mentioning separately about vitamin E. In amaranth oil, it is found in the best form - tocotrienolic, while in other vegetable oils this vitamin exists in tocopherol (passive form). Therefore, vitamin E in this form quickly neutralizes the effects of free radicals, which cause premature aging and sagging of the skin.
