Read and see photos of three types of aquarium plants: curly aponogeton, graceful ammania, giant vallisneria. Video about the design of the aquarium. As you know, the aquarium is very healthy. It humidifies the air in the apartment, contributing to the settling of dust, reducing allergic reactions and reducing colds. The flowing water soothes the psyche, contributing to a good mood and a positive attitude towards life. The aquarium is capable of increasing creative talent, so its presence is not uncommon in the homes of artists, poets and musicians.

The aquarium is very beautiful in itself, but the plants in it will decorate it even more, giving it the appearance of a real aquatic world.

The following paragraphs summarize the most popular plants among aquarists, which will make your aquarium a wonderful corner of the underwater world.

The first plants that we will look at are plants that are planted in the ground. In addition to them, there are species that swim in the water, and there are ones that live on the surface.

Aquarium plants planted in the ground:

1. Aponogetone curly

Aponogeton curly is a plant growing on the island of Sri Lanka, belonging to India. It grows mainly in stagnant or slow flowing waters, therefore it is the best fit for an aquarium. Aponogeton curly reaches up to thirty centimeters in height, taking into account the tuber and leaves. Its leaves are wavy in shape, giving it a graceful appearance, and its color is extremely variable, as indicated by its name. Distinguish aponogeton violet, green, red, dark green, blue, bright green, called lucens.

In order for it to grow well (and it grows for a whole year), it must be kept in a warm aquarium, where the water temperature is at least twenty degrees. Take it out of the aquarium periodically to dry it, otherwise exhaustion may occur. It grows in silted soil, the layer of which should not be more than six centimeters.

At the same time, aponogeton can grow in an aquarium of any size.

2. Ammania graceful

Ammania gracilis grows in Gambia and Senegal in sandy soil. This plant loves warmth and good light. The aquarium plant grows sixty centimeters or more in length. It has numerous narrow leaves up to five centimeters long, which grow throughout the stem. And the bottom is red, while the top ranges from green to reddish brown. The brightness and saturation of ammonia depends on the conditions of its keeping in the aquarium - the better, the brighter.

Ammania graceful requires a large aquarium that holds at least one hundred liters of water. With good care, it grows quickly, which is also not always desirable, so plant it only in a large aquarium. Ammania looks great in the background, creating a beautiful backdrop.

3. Vallisneria is giant

Vallisneria gigantea grows on the islands of South Asia. By its name, you can already determine the size - it reaches a length of one meter! Although it is planted in the ground, it rises to the water's edge and floats on the surface, so it sometimes obscures the light to other inhabitants of the aquarium. That is why it is not recommended to give it free rein and allow it to grow too much - it can form real thickets.

Vallisneria is gigantic - it has a graceful shape, its color is saturated green or dark green (you can see it in the photo above) and therefore looks very impressive. She is unpretentious and does not require certain conditions for successful growth. The only thing she needs for good growth is bright lighting of the aquarium (daylight hours - 12-14 hours) and soil. Do not add salt and drinking water to the aquarium - it does not like excess minerals. Periodically, the aquarium needs to be partially cleared of plant thickets so that it does not grow too huge, otherwise your fish house will become one continuous vallisneria.
