We make a table for a computer with our own hands. The article describes the process of making a table independently, shows its desired dimensions and tabletop material. After renovation in the room, there was a need for a new computer desk. It was decided to place the table along the window. The purpose of the table is to place the monitor, keyboard and speakers.
Based on the conditions of the task, we decided on the size of the table. Length - 200 cm, width - 65 cm. Table height is standard - about 70 cm. The form is simple. No shelves or pull-out keyboard stands. Just a flat work surface. By the way, this size for a desk or computer desk can be considered a standard. The famous designer Artemy Lebedev has a similar table. Many furniture makers also recommend a table of this shape and size. Without any pull-out keyboard shelves and other unnecessary (meaningless) "accessories".
Such tables are not sold in stores. I turned to furniture makers to make it to order. The amount indicated by them was shocked. And it took more than two weeks to wait. It was decided to assemble the table on our own.
The table consists of a table top and legs. The basis of the table top is a chipboard sheet. Its dimensions are 200 cm long and 65 cm wide. The sheet was cut and brought from a hardware store. It did not take long to determine the surface of the table. It was decided that this would be a regular laminate used for flooring. Why laminate? First, it is unusual and beautiful. Secondly, it is very durable and practical. Thirdly, it is inexpensive. The laminate was purchased from the 33rd class. You can also use a lower class laminate, because the load on the tabletop is less than on the floor. A total of 10 laminate sheets were purchased. The sizes are standard. Length - 130 cm, width - 20 cm. Material color and texture - dark oak. After the laminate was purchased, it had to be cut into sheets. On a woodworking machine, the sheets were cut in half. From 10 sheets it turned out 20. The length of the new sheets is 65 cm. I put the laminate sheets on top of the chipboard sheet. The result is a tabletop of the required size. The thickness of the table top is 2.5 cm. To close the edge, an aluminum corner was purchased. It is attached with self-tapping screws. Everything, the table top is completely ready. The table top cost 1,500 rubles.
It remains to buy and fix the legs. Unfortunately, there were no legs in local furniture stores. I had to order online in the Ikea store. Legs are black, thickness - 5 cm. Height 70 cm. Very stylish. Ideally matched in color and design to the countertop. The cost of the legs is less than 1000 rubles.
Let's summarize. For little money - less than 2500 rubles, we got a unique table. You can't buy this in a store. And if you order from furniture companies, the amount will be much higher. In time, the assembly took one day. The table is very spacious and comfortable. There is a lot of space, you can even work together. The design is modern. Friends do not believe that it was not made in a furniture workshop. In the process of daily operation throughout the year, it turned out that this table has no shortcomings.
