The abundance and popularity of recipes for tuna salads can be compared with the Olivier salad, no less famous in our country. Today I present another version of a light and tender salad, in which tuna will play the main role.
Salads containing tuna are very popular not only because of the excellent taste of fish, but also for their beneficial properties. Despite the fact that tuna is considered a low-calorie food, it contains many proteins and unsaturated fatty acids, like Omega 3 and 6. In addition, its meat contains amino acids, iron, magnesium and vitamin B3.
In the assortment of any supermarket, you can see both fresh, frozen and canned tuna, which is in no way inferior to fresh carcass in terms of useful properties. Many housewives most often use canned tuna in cooking. However, when choosing it, they often encounter difficulty, since it can be difficult to distinguish high-quality canned food.
How to choose canned tuna
1 package
It is very rare to find canned tuna in glass containers. Manufacturers often hide it in a tin container. Therefore, such a reservoir should not be deformed, rusty, chipped, sagged or stained. The presence of a slight deformation of the can leads to spoilage of the fish. Also, if the bottom of a can is swollen, the tuna has long ago deteriorated.
2. Marking
The marking should be embossed on the outside or squeezed out from the inside directly on the jar. Such a product is more difficult to counterfeit than a paper label. In the labeling, pay attention to the product assortment code: for tuna, it looks like "OTN". If there are no such letters, the fish will taste bad.
3. Expiry date
Many canned food can be stored for up to 3 years, but it must be understood that the beneficial substances of tuna diminish over time. Therefore, buy canned food produced 2-3 months ago in order to get an exquisite taste. The production date is stamped on the lid or bottom of the can in the 2nd row of the marking.
4. Composition
The ingredients should include fish, salt and spices, without flavor enhancers or food additives. If the tuna is in oil, then the composition should contain sunflower, olive or other oil. However, it is advisable to give preference to fish in its own juice, it is safer and healthier.

Cooking tuna salad
1. First of all, boil the carrots and eggs, and then cool completely. Since this process can take a long time, I recommend preparing these products in advance, for example, in the evening.
2. So, peel the boiled carrots and cut into cubes about 6 mm in size.
3. Peel and cut the eggs to the same size. To make the eggs easy to peel, after boiling, immerse them in cold water, which is replaced several times.
4. Cut the processed cheese into slices like the previous products.
5. Wash the apple, peel and remove the core. If you have special knives for these processes, use them.
6. Then cut the apple pulp to the appropriate size, i.e. cubes of 6 mm.
7. Place all food in a deep salad bowl.
8. Remove the canned tuna from the can and crush with a fork. However, you can also cut the meat into pieces. Then put the fish in a container with all the products and pour mayonnaise.
9. Season salad with salt and stir well.
ten. Send the salad to chill in the refrigerator, as such dishes with mayonnaise are usually served chilled.
