It is sometimes problematic to build a full-fledged bathhouse on your own site, and sometimes it is completely impossible. It is not worth giving up the idea of conducting bath procedures at any convenient time. After all, there is such a great option as a transportable bath. It is a wooden module that is ready to use and small in size. You can place it anywhere, but you can build it yourself.
Advantages and disadvantages of transportable baths
Small-sized mobile baths are gaining popularity. They have many advantages, including:
- Compactness … It is very convenient to install such structures in small areas. They can be disassembled at any time if necessary.
- Easy and fast assembly … Even in unforeseen situations, the structure is quickly assembled by two people.
- Mobility … Such a steam room easily moves around the site to the desired place. And some types of transportable baths can even be taken with you to nature.
- Ease of operation … The absence of a foundation, sewerage system and power supply greatly simplifies operation.
- Inexpensive and easy installation … Installing such a steam room on your site will be much cheaper than installing a stationary structure.
- Profitability … Due to its small size, less energy is required to warm up the steam room.
Of the shortcomings, only a relatively small size can be distinguished, which does not allow a large company to steam at the same time.
Varieties of mobile baths
Structures of this type are built only from wood. This material has optimum performance characteristics. It is strong, durable, has a relatively low weight, and therefore does not require a strong foundation and is quite easy to transport.
According to the manufacturing technology, mobile steam rooms are divided into:
- Frame-panel board … The manufacture of this particular model to order is most often offered by construction firms. A transportable frame bath is easy not only to mount, but also to transport to the desired place using a crane. For interior decoration, they use aspen euro lining, for exterior - a block house.
- Collapsible … Easily transported unassembled, even in the back of a pickup truck or on the upper trunk of a passenger car. Therefore, you can even take a steam bath in nature. Store the dismantled portable bath in a dry room. It is advisable to use a canvas cover for this.
- Barrels … Recently, the installation of such structures on the rafts of reservoirs has been especially popular. The most suitable wood for the equipment of a transportable barrel-bath is considered to be cedar board. The structure can consist of three rooms - a steam room, a washing room, a rest room. Or it can be made in the form of a separate steam room with a stove.
- Timber constructions … Easy to assemble. They are transported using a crane. However, in some cases, additional caulking may be required.
Each of these varieties has its own advantages and disadvantages. Today, a ready-made transportable bath can be purchased or ordered to be manufactured on a turnkey basis. However, you can build any of them yourself. The main thing is to decide which type of steam room is most suitable for your requirements.
Design of a transportable bath
First you need to choose a transport bath project and calculate the amount of materials. A standard mobile steam room includes: a dressing room with a table, a bench and a hanger, a steam room with a shelf and a bench, a washing compartment with a shower and a water heater. However, some models are a separate, compact seated steam room with dimensions of 1.5 m3.
Features of the construction of a transportable bath from a bar
For such a structure, only natural wood is used with a shrinkage below 20% due to its low thermal conductivity, which significantly reduces heating costs. It is also necessary to choose the thickness of the timber taking into account the climatic features of the operation zone.
Materials for the construction of a transportable bath
To equip a mobile steam room, you will need:
- planed timber, with a section of 10 * 15 cm;
- foundation blocks (20 * 20 * 40 cm);
- flax-jute insulation;
- galvanized iron;
- mineral wool with a waterproofing coating;
- board: edged - 2, 5 cm, grooved - 2, 8 cm;
- aluminium foil;
- aspen lining.
If desired, you can use any hardwood lining. Coniferous lining for steam room equipment is not recommended due to the content of resinous substances.
Instructions for the construction of a transportable bath from a bar
Before starting work, you need to equip a site for installing the structure. For these purposes, we level the area for the future steam room and fill up the gravel-sand pillow. It is desirable that there is a slight slope in order to ensure the natural outflow of water.
Further work is performed in the following sequence:
- We make a block foundation. It is recommended to install more than six supports. They must be located at the edges and in the middle of long walls.
- We carry out strapping from a bar, with a section of 15 * 10 cm.
- We mount the logs with a step of 0.6 meters.
- We install a frame from a bar with a section of 5 cm2 and a height of about 2 meters.
- We lay the first row of planed beams.
- We fix the linen-jute insulation on top for additional sealing.
- We attach the second row using the thorn-groove system. We attach the bars to each other in a "warm corner".
- We clog the gaps with a thermal insulator.
- We lay out the wall of the desired height. The optimal size is about two meters.
- We attach partitions inside the structure, 8 cm thick, with a layer of insulation about 5 cm, hydro and vapor barrier.
- We make a ventilation duct. It is better to place it below the stove.
- We mount the floor beams and stuff the crate on them.
- Raise the skate 40 cm.
- We attach the roof. We use galvanized iron as roofing material.
- We install double-leaf windows and a wooden door.
- We carry out electrical wiring in the bath and supply electricity. We install lamps with refractory shades.
After a year of operation of a transportable bath from a bar, gaps between the bars may appear due to the drying out of the wood. In this case, they are additionally compacted.
Interior finishing of the transportable bath
Before equipping the floor in the structure, it is necessary to install a pallet in the washing room for draining, then the construction process is carried out in the following order:
- We mount solid subfloor boards with a slope towards the drain.
- We lay a layer of mineral wool from 5 cm thick with a waterproofing coating.
- Installing a "clean" floor from a tongue-and-groove hardwood board.
- In the washing compartment, we make the floor sloping towards the drain hole.
- We equip the drainage point with a siphon.
- We fill the inner crate.
- We fix a layer of aluminum foil on the base, with a reflective surface inward.
- We fill the lining on top. We carry out the process carefully so as not to damage the foil.
- We insulate the ceiling with a layer of mineral wool from 5 cm and also sheathe it with clapboard. Aspen is considered the most suitable material. It is lightweight, durable and resin-free.
- We attach the platbands.
- We install two shelves in the steam room.
If you do not plan to use the bathhouse in winter, then the walls may not be additionally insulated. Caulking will be enough. The profile beam looks quite aesthetically pleasing, and therefore there is no need for internal wall cladding.
In the dressing room, you can place a clothes hanger, table and chairs. It will act as a kind of rest room and locker room.
Arrangement of a stove in a transportable bath
The fuel compartment must be placed with an outlet in the dressing room, placing a metal pallet under it. The place intended for the stove is upholstered from the bottom and sides with galvanized sheet. We mount the oven.
For a transportable steam room, we use a factory electric stove with a 30-50 liter water tank. Having sufficient skills, you can cook a wood-burning stove-potbelly stove. She will be able not only to heat the steam room, but also suitable for cooking in nature. How to build a transportable bath - watch the video:
Coniferous and deciduous wood is used in the construction of transportable mobile baths. Please note that this material needs to be treated with antiseptic protective compounds and flame retardants. Therefore, before assembling each structure, the wooden elements must first be impregnated.
