Greek salad is the most popular Greek dish, which is prepared in almost all European modern restaurants. Among the many experiments and variations of its preparation, the first true version has long been lost. But there is a base that should be unchanged - these are fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese (preferably feta). This is the minimum set of products to which the rest of the ingredients can be added to taste. With all the necessary ingredients on hand, such a salad can be made in just 5 minutes.
The peculiarity of the recipe for the preparation of the dish is vegetables, which are usually cut as large as possible. Stir the food immediately before serving it to the table, i.e. just before eating. If onions are used for the recipe, then you need to take sweet varieties, best of all, Crimean sweet onions. Dry herbs such as oregano are often used as a condiment. You can also use a dry mixture of Greek or Italian herbs.
If you prepare the salad for a festive table, then you can cut all the vegetables in advance and arrange them in the dishes, and combine and mix before serving. Serve the salad in a large platter. Also, all the ingredients can be laid out in a salad bowl in layers and the salad can be seasoned at the table. But it is better to put the sauce on the table so that each eater can fill the salad on their own.

How to make a Greek salad
1. Peel sweet peppers from seeds with partitions. Rinse the fruit, dry with a paper towel and cut into large strips.
2. Wash the cucumber, cut off the ends and cut into half rings or quarter rings.
3. Peel the onions and chop them into half rings.
4. Cut the washed and dried tomato into large pieces.
5. Remove the husk from the garlic and chop finely.
6. Combine all foods, season with salt, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
7. Cut the cheese into cubes and cut the olives in half. If the olives are pitted, remove them first. Add food to salad.
8. Stir the ingredients again. Do this carefully so as not to wrinkle the components. Serve the food to the table immediately after cooking. Do not hold it, otherwise the tomatoes will juice up and the salad will become watery, which will ruin the taste and appearance.
