The Crab Balls appetizer is a rather interesting festive dish. Easy to prepare and enjoyable to eat. The food has a light fishy taste and aroma. It is quite useful for the body, because contains a lot of useful protein.
The main ingredient is crab sticks. It serves as an inexpensive alternative to real crab meat. A quality product should consist of surimi - ground pollock fillet, hake or blue whiting. If the composition contains soy and egg white, as well as starch, then it is better to leave such a product on the store shelf, because it has nothing to do with fish and will not bring the desired benefits to the body. Plus, the finished dish will not be as tasty as we would like. It is noteworthy that frozen crab sticks lose their juiciness, so it is better to buy them only chilled.
Additional ingredients for crab balls on the festive table - eggs, processed cheese and olives - significantly improve the taste of the finished dish, have a positive effect on the consistency of the crab mixture and allow you to shape the festive snack.

Step-by-step preparation of the "Crab balls" snack on the festive table
1. Before making the crab balls, you need to prepare the main ingredient. To do this, carefully unfold the chilled crab sticks, separate the white part and set aside. Rub the painted strips on a fine grater.
2. Boil chicken eggs until hard-boiled, cool, peel and rub together with melted cheese on a fine grater.
3. Grind the set aside of the crab sticks with a knife in the shape of cubes or grind on a coarse grater. Add to eggs and cream cheese.
4. Put the mayonnaise on top. The amount of this ingredient depends on its quality and density. The mass for the "Crab balls" appetizer for the festive table should be thick enough to keep the required round shape well. We also season with flavors and mix thoroughly, achieving the formation of a homogeneous mass. This will make the finished crab balls more tender.
5. Lightly moisten palms in water. We collect a small amount of the resulting mass with a spoon and proceed to shaping the snack. First, we make a cake, crush it in the center, put an olive there and close it with the edges, forming a ball. As you can see from the photo, the crab balls must be the same size for the finished dish to look organic, so we try to take the same amount of crab mass.
6. After that, carefully roll each ball in red shavings from crab sticks and put on a separate dish. If desired, you can make a substrate of lettuce leaves or chopped greens on a plate - this will make the food look more festive and appetizing. Until serving, the snack is stored in the refrigerator under cling film or a lid. This helps to maintain freshness and aroma.
7. Snack "Crab balls" for the festive table is ready! This dish will look great on the New Year's table. It is rarely served in portions.
