Useful properties, contraindications and composition of a face mask with neem. Recipes and rules of application. Face mask with neem is a remedy that eliminates the visible signs of skin diseases. Its use will help you cleanse and narrow pores, get rid of comedones, rashes and acne, even subcutaneous and internal, against which other cosmetic products are powerless.
Useful properties of a neem mask
The main active component of the mask is nim. It can be either in the form of a powder or in the form of oil, which are obtained from parts of an evergreen tree - Indian azadirachta (other names: margosa, Indian tulip tree), which grows in the tropics and subtropics of India, Pakistan and neighboring countries.
Neem mask has very beneficial properties for the skin:
- Destroys harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi … Any rash is associated with the activity of any microorganisms. Natural antibiotics contained in neem destroy them, and the skin condition improves: inflammation and irritation are relieved.
- Harmonizes skin condition … Regular use of masks with margose helps to get rid of both excess oiliness of the dermis and its excessive dryness.
- Nourishes and smoothes … The skin is saturated with useful microelements contained in neem, smoothed, tightened and rejuvenated.
- Exfoliates and whitens … Due to the acids contained in neem, the product removes dead skin particles and opens clogged pores, brightens pigmented areas.
Know! Neem is one of the main healing agents in Ayurveda, the traditional system of Indian medicine. Hindus call azadirachta "a panacea for all diseases", "divine tree" and "village pharmacy". The name of Nima comes from the phrase "nimbati sv? Sthyamdad? Ti", which is translated from Sanskrit as "bestowing good health."
Contraindications of a face mask with neem
Applying neem oil and neem powder externally is not hazardous. But given the fact that this is a fairly toxic substance, it cannot be used in its pure form. In any composition, the amount of neem should not exceed 10%. But even divorced women are not recommended to use it for pregnant and lactating women, as well as for children under the age of five.
Do not use drugs with neem in case of hypothermia and if the disease is associated with cold, if a person is exhausted, tired, if his breathing is weakened, as well as in case of hypersensitivity.
Before making neem masks for the first time, be sure to test for contact allergies: smear the skin on the bend of the elbow or on the wrist and observe your reaction for 15 minutes. A slight burning sensation that does not cause discomfort is one of the options for a normal skin reaction to it. But a strong burning sensation, irritation and rashes are a reason to refuse such a cosmetic procedure.
Remember! Keep it out of the reach of children. It is also used for oral administration, but only after the permission of a doctor and in small doses, for example, no more than one drop (if it is oil) per day. Even an adult can feel bad from him.
Composition and components of the mask with neem
Indian azadirakhta is now recognized as the most promising tree for study and use in the future, the UN awarded it the title "Tree of the XXI century". Its properties are being actively studied. For example, Singaporean researchers have shown that the active substance nimbolide contained in margose can stop the cancerous processes of the prostate gland. Scientific conferences dedicated to azadirachte are held every three years.
Scientific evidence is found that this tree is truly a natural pharmacy, containing a large amount of useful substances:
- Azadirakhtin … Natural insecticide, the most studied of the triterpene compounds limonoid, responsible for the bitterness of neem.
- Nimbin, Nimbidine, Gedunin … Other triterpenoids found in neem, which have antiviral and antibacterial properties, are also capable of killing different types of fungi.
- Vitamin E … Antioxidant, cell renewal, rejuvenating and toning, moisturizing, improving blood circulation and complexion.
- Polysaccharides … They have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties.
- Other beneficial substances … Polyphenols (tannin, coumarin), proteins, substances containing copper and sulfur, micro- and macroelements, glycerides of acids (palmitic, arachidonic, oleic, linoleic, stearic, auric), sterols, alkaloid margosine, essential amino acids.
Please note! The smell of neem is not aromatic. It is sharp and specific, reminiscent of onion and garlic, poorly weathered and smells stronger, the higher the temperature. But for the sake of useful properties it is worth tolerating, in addition, it can be masked with citronella essential oil.
Neem face mask recipes
You can make masks with neem both from fresh leaves, and from dried leaves, from essential oil or ready-made powder. Neem is perfectly stored and does not lose its beneficial properties for a long time. The procedures are especially popular among those with problematic sebaceous skin, but they are useful for both normal and dry skin. The mask can be applied to the entire face or only to inflamed areas. Here are some interesting recipes.
Cleansing masks with neem
These masks will refresh dull skin and unclog pores:
- Monocomponent … Take 1-2 tbsp. tablespoons of neem powder, brew with hot water, stir to a paste, let cool to a comfortable temperature and apply on face for a quarter of an hour. Rinse off with cool water and spread with cream. The skin will be slightly reddish, this is normal and will go away quickly. The complexion will be evened out, the pores will be narrowed. To make this mask more nutritious, you can combine it with different aromatic oils, in accordance with your skin type. If you add palmarose oil, the mixture will be good against fungal infections, with manuka and tea tree oils it will have an antibacterial effect. And with geranium, citronella and eucalyptus, it will scare away mosquitoes and other insects from you (the smell on the skin after applying the mask will hold on for some time). If you wish, you can make special oil mixtures with the effect you want, but remember that neem oils should be from 2 to 10 percent in them!
- With yoghurt … Take dry neem leaves (2 teaspoons), crush in a mortar and add 1 teaspoon of yogurt to them, which, as you know, whitens, softens, moisturizes the skin and absorbs excess greasiness, and therefore this mask is great for owners of oily dermis. Add rose water (1-2 teaspoons) to the resulting mixture and mix well until a paste forms. Keep the mask on your face for 15 minutes and rinse.
- With essential oils … Take neem and macadamia oil (10 parts each), flax or burdock oil (25 parts), cocoa butter (50 parts), argan oil (5 parts). Stir and apply to face (all or problem areas) overnight to treat acne, acne and comedones. Rinse off in the morning. You can simplify the recipe and mix neem oil (10 parts) with base oil (90 parts). For example, flaxseed, almond is suitable, but you should not mix it with coconut. Melt all thickened ingredients in a water bath.
- With rose water … Take 2 teaspoons of dried neem leaves and crush them to make a fine powder. Then add rose water (2 teaspoons), mix well, pour in lemon juice (1 teaspoon) and stir again until you get a paste. Rose water and lemon juice are effective in treating acne, lighten the skin, and make its color uniform. Apply the resulting mixture to your face, like a scrub, in gentle circular motions and hold for 15 minutes, then rinse.
By the way! You can buy ready-made neem powder and rose water at drugstores or beauty stores. You can make rose water yourself: place environmentally friendly petals in a saucepan and cover with water, boil and simmer over low heat until they lose color. Squeeze them out, strain the resulting liquid, pour into sterilized glassware, close with a tight lid and store cool in a dark place.

In India and the surrounding countries, the sprigs of Indian azadirachta are still used by local residents for brushing their teeth.
Rules for using a face mask with neem
To get the best results from a neem mask, follow these simple guidelines:
- Cleanse your skin … Remove make-up and wash with your favorite cleanser to wash away any impurities.
- Peel … As we age, cell division slows down, and dead skin particles can give us a dull complexion and prevent the active ingredients of the mask from positively affecting the dermis. Gently use your fingertips to wipe your face with a natural scrub in a circular motion (for example, mix equal parts ground coffee and oatmeal and moisten a little with mineral water).
- Steam the skin … This is an extremely important step that many people forget about. The steam helps to enlarge the pores, which is critical for the cleaning process. So the mask with neem will penetrate deeper and be more effective. You can steam up by bathing in the shower or by filling a sink or bowl with hot water and bending over it for 2-3 minutes. The easiest way is to moisten a cloth with hot water and apply it to your face several times and hold it for a while.
- Apply a mask with neem … Spread over the skin, avoiding the area around the eyes, be careful not to get into the eyes or mouth, this may cause discomfort. Hold for 10-15 minutes, focusing on your sensations. Some people have hypersensitive skin and generally cannot tolerate even the slightest burning sensation. Perhaps they should reduce the concentration to a minimum. For example, neem oil in a mask should be from two to ten percent, no more.
- Moisturize your skin … Use your favorite facial moisturizer to do this.
Please note! Do masks with neem slowly, set aside a certain time for the procedure, relax and meditate. Beauty treatments can be performed up to three times a week. For those who wish to cleanse the skin of rashes, after consultation and permission from a dermatologist, you can do such masks every day. How to make a mask with nim - watch the video:
