Kutya is served on the table with the rise of the first star in the sky, and it is with it that the dinner should begin. Ingredients:
- Pearl barley - 100 g
- Raisins - 30 g
- Dried apricots - 30 g
- Prunes - 30 g
- Poppy - 30 g
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
Step-by-step preparation of barley kutia with dried fruits, poppy seeds and honey, recipe with photo:
1. Put all dried fruits in a container.
2. Pour boiling water over them, cover and leave for 10 minutes to swell and soften.
3. After this time, remove them from the boiling water, dry with a paper towel and cut into medium pieces.
4. Boil poppy seeds with boiling water, stir and leave for 15 minutes.
5. Drain the water through a fine sieve and repeat the same procedure 2 more times. After that, grind the poppy seeds in a mortar or grind with a blender.
6. Sort out the pearl barley and rinse to wash off all the dust.
7. Fill it with drinking water and leave to stand for 2 hours.
8. Discard the barley in a sieve and rinse. Return it to the pot.
9. Fill with water in a ratio of 1: 3 and place on the stove to cook.
10. Boil, reduce heat and continue cooking for 1-1.5 hours until tender.
11. When the cereal has completely absorbed the water and becomes soft, add the crushed poppy seeds to it.
12. Next, pour in the honey.
13. Place the chopped dried fruit.
14. Stir the food well to distribute it evenly.
15. Serve chilled kutya to the table. But if you are used to eating warm porridge, you can reheat it in the microwave.
