But it is nutritious and tasty, gives vitality and energy, and in order for it to be tasty and sparkle with new colors, you need to add some delicious products. Perfectly diversifies the diet, especially on fast days, the most delicious dessert sweet barley with dried fruits at home. Then the familiar porridge will become an original vitamin dish. When preparing pearl barley porridge, it should be borne in mind that it takes a little longer to cook than other cereals. However, the result will be worth the effort. The largest period of time is spent on preparing cereals. Therefore, consider this moment when you prepare dinner or breakfast. Modern manufacturers made it easier for the housewives, and the cereals began to be sold already steamed, which reduces the time for its preparation (from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours), and the pre-soaking time was reduced to 3 hours.

Ingredients:
- Pearl barley - 200 g
- Dried fruits (any) - 200 g
- Butter - 50 g (for a lean dish, use 2-3 tablespoons of refined vegetable oil)
Step-by-step preparation of barley with dried fruits, recipe with photo:
1. Sort the pearl barley, pour into a fine iron sieve and rinse under running water to wash off all the dust. Transfer it to a deep bowl and cover with cold water, which should be 2-3 times more in volume than cereals. Leave the pearl barley for 6 hours. If the groats are steamed, then soak them for 3 hours.
2. During this time, pearl barley will increase in volume by 2 times. Drain and rinse under clean running water.
3. Transfer it to a baking dish. It can be a ceramic or glass mold, or a pot.
4. Pre-steam dried fruits (dried apricots, prunes, raisins, apples, pears) in hot water so that they become soft. Then dry with a paper towel, cut into strips and lay on top of the pearl barley. If drying with bones, then remove them first. Cut the butter into slices and spread on top of the dryers or pour over the food with vegetable oil.
5. Fill the food with drinking water so that it covers them by 1.5 fingers. Close the form with a lid and send to a heated oven up to 180 degrees for 1, 5-2 hours.
