This dish was born in France in the 18th century and gained popularity all over the world. The word "gratin" simultaneously means both the name of the dish and the method of preparation. Prepare gratin by baking food in the oven under a cheese crust. In this way, you can cook anything you want: vegetables, meat, fish, mushrooms, seafood. That is, if in a French restaurant on the menu next to the name of the dish you see the inscription au gratin next to it, it means that the dish will be served baked under a crispy crust. It will not be not boiled, not fried in a pan, not steamed, but baked. Therefore, to prepare gratin, you will need heat-resistant dishes: any convenient baking dish, a roaster, a cast-iron brazier. - Hard cheese - 200 g
- Cream - 250 ml
- Salt - 1 tsp or to taste
- Meat - 500 g
Step by step cooking potato gratin with meat, recipe with photo:
1. Peel the potatoes, wash and dry with a paper towel. Cut it into rings 3-5 mm thick.
2. Wash the meat, dry it and pass it through a meat grinder.
3. Twist the onions through a meat grinder as well.
4. Season the minced meat with salt, black pepper, any spices and herbs. Mix it well. If desired, you can lightly fry the meat in a pan until half cooked.
5. Grease a baking dish with a thin layer of butter and lay out the first layer of potatoes.
6. Sprinkle with cheese, cover with minced meat and lay out a second layer of potatoes.
