The sequence of works on the installation of frame soundproofing systems can be studied using the example of the assembly of the Armstrong acoustic suspended ceiling. Installation work begins after the final attachment to the ceiling of the units intended for placement above the false ceiling. Perform work at a humidity of less than 70% and a temperature of + 15-30 degrees.

First, check the package contents of your speaker system. The set includes: acoustic plates 600x600 mm, bearing profile 3700 mm long, longitudinal profile 1200 mm long, transverse profile 600 mm long, wall profile with elastic spacers 3000 mm long, height-adjustable suspensions with elastic spacers, metal profiles with a shelf width of 15 mm, ceiling profiles are T-shaped, wall profiles are L-shaped.

The assembly of the ceiling is carried out in the following order:

  • Mark up for wall battens. You need a water level to work. Horizontal lines for wall profiles are applied at a minimum distance from the ceiling tiles, taking into account the equipment fixed to the ceiling.
  • Placement marks for bearing rails are applied to the ceiling at 1.2 m parallel to the wall.
  • The marks of the longitudinal profiles are applied perpendicular to the marks of the bearing rails, with an interval of 0.6 m between themselves and from the wall.
  • The marks of the transverse profiles are applied perpendicular to the marks of the longitudinal profiles, at intervals of 1, 2 m
  • Apply marks for placing suspensions above the supporting profile in increments of 1.2 m and no more than 0.6 m from the wall. The latter dimension is not always possible to ensure, therefore, it is recommended to place the marks on the ceilings in a checkerboard pattern. The load on the hangers should not exceed 3.5-6 kg / m2… For massive panels, use a reinforced hanger.
  • The markup allows you to calculate the number of rails, panels and suspensions, as well as determine the dimensions of the modules closest to the walls. If necessary, the profiles are cut with a hacksaw for metal.
  • Fasten the wall profiles along the markings with self-tapping screws with a gap of 0.5 m.
  • Fix the hangers to the floor slabs with anchors according to the markings. When making the mounting holes, the accuracy can be disregarded. A slight inclination of the suspension is eliminated by changing its height.
  • Attach the supporting profiles to the Armstrong acoustic ceiling hangers and align them in one plane using the adjustable hangers. Long profiles are connected on the ground and then attached to the hangers.
  • Fasten the remaining ceiling profiles to the assembled rails.
  • Acoustic panels are mounted in the frame cells from above. They rise above the false ceiling in an inclined position and lower to their original place in a horizontal state.
  • If the panel is stuck, you cannot push from above, it is allowed to push in the corners. First of all, panels with lamps are installed and wires are immediately connected to the devices.
  • The last panel is supported by the entire palm with fingers spread out.

Frameless panels are ready-to-use products that can be fixed to the ceiling immediately after purchase.

Typical installation instructions for such systems are as follows:

  1. Seal seams, holes, cracks, etc. on the ceiling.
  2. To all walls adjacent to the ceiling, fix two layers of a special elastic gasket with a sealant, the width of which is 30 mm greater than the thickness of the board.
  3. Often frameless acoustic ceiling panels are made with grooves and protrusions for a better connection to each other. Cut off the tabs on the slabs near the walls so that the panel fits snugly against the spacers glued to the walls.
  4. Attach the slab to the ceiling, slide it all the way into the walls.
  5. Drill the ceiling through the holes in the panel. Drill diameter and hole depth are indicated in the panel instructions. Hole sizes are given taking into account the use of the supplied dowels.
  6. Without removing the panel, install the plastic dowels with screws embedded in several turns into the holes.
  7. Make sure that the screws do not expand the dowels.
  8. Install dowels with screws and conical washers through the panels into the ceiling holes and hammer in until they stop.
  9. Place the screws in the dowels.
  10. Place the adjacent panel next to it, aligning the grooves and projections of the adjacent panels, and repeat the operation.
  11. After fixing all the panels, install the decorative panels by fixing them to the specific holes in the sandwich panels.

Fastening the acoustic stretch fabric to the ceiling

The construction of acoustic stretch ceilings is very simple: a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheet is attached to the wall profiles. However, the assembly of the product has its own characteristics.

To properly assemble the structure, follow the instructions below:

  1. Place the baguette (wall profile) placement marks on the walls. Draw the lines at a predetermined distance from the floor slabs, in a horizontal plane.
  2. Attach the baguette to the wall surface, align with the markings and drill a hole in the wall through it. Secure the baguette with a plastic dowel and self-tapping screw
  3. Repeat the operation and fix the profile with self-tapping screws every 7-8 cm. Drill the last hole at a distance of 1-2 cm from the end of the baguette.
  4. Secure the baguettes in a similar manner throughout the room.
  5. Determine the level of the stretch ceiling. To do this, pull the thread along the bottom edge of the opposite baguettes.
  6. Determine the height of the hangers for the luminaires, which should be 2-3 mm less than the gap between the ceiling and the thread.
  7. Find the midpoints on each wall and mark them.
  8. Determine the midpoints of each side of the PVC film. Grab these spots and move the material to the middle of the walls. Use a large spatula to tuck the canvas into the baguette at these points, and then tuck the canvas in 20-30 cm in all directions.
  9. Tuck the entire film into the baguette, starting from the middle of the wall. Leave some unfilled material in front of the corners of the room.
  10. Make cuts in the fabric from bottom to top to prevent wrinkling and thread the fabric into your profile.
  11. Cut off any excess fabric hanging from the baguette.
  12. The last stage is making holes in the canvas for the lamps.

At first glance, the installation of an acoustic ceiling is difficult to implement, because to complete the work, it is necessary to install supplies and stairs. But modern designs of acoustic ceilings are brought to perfection and allow you to carry out installation work yourself.
