  • From the attic side, we lay a vapor barrier material on it. The foil layer (if any) is laid down. The insulation should fit as tightly as possible into the space between the beams and close the gaps. The most suitable layer thickness is 10 cm.
  • We lay the material for waterproofing. Please also note that the waterproofing film must consist of a vapor-proof layer, and its joints must be glued with tape. We put boards or moisture-resistant plywood on top.
  • If necessary, we make a special waterproofing lock to increase the vapor resistance of the roof. At home, a mixture of greasy clay and sawdust is used for this. It is applied to the ceiling with a layer of 20 centimeters. We pay special attention to the joints between the walls and the ceiling.
  • We create a ventilation system in the attic of the bath. This is necessary to remove the steam to the outside. It is enough just to make a draft or install a chimney. It is not recommended to raise the ridge of the roof for this purpose. If the optional canopy is not available, rainwater can enter this hole.

This technology of bath roof insulation is most often used for small wooden baths. In this case, boards sheathed from below and insulated from above are cut into the crowns of the log house. The roof of the bathhouse is insulated in this way in stages:

  1. We treat wooden elements with antiseptics and fire retardants.
  2. We fix the vapor barrier film from the inside with a construction stapler.
  3. We glue the joints with metallized tape.
  4. We close the boards from above with a layer of vapor-permeable waterproofing. It is needed to remove steam from the floorboards, otherwise they will rot. For this reason, plastic sheeting is not suitable for waterproofing.
  5. We put insulation on top of the waterproofing layer.
  6. We attach another waterproofing layer with a stapler to the finished floor. It will protect the insulation from condensation drops.
