When asked why this snack has taken root in our country, the answer is obvious. It cooks quickly, the ingredients are inexpensive, and it turns out delicious. Like any borrowed dish, this appetizer is a huge field for culinary experiments of savvy housewives. In the original version of the Caprice cold appetizer, the dish is prepared as follows. Sliced thin circles of tomato are laid out on a plate, chopped Mozzarella cheese on top, the structure is sprinkled with fresh or dried basil, and all this is poured with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The appetizer became a national dish because it is similar in color to the Italian flag. And they named it after the place where it was first thought up - the Italian island of Capri.
All of the above snacks are the basic ingredients of the classic recipe. However, today there are many different variations of "Russian Caprese", which are complemented by different ingredients.
A tomato and cheese appetizer is suitable for an ordinary family dinner and any festive table. Tomato fruits should be small, firm and sweet, for example, the "Cream" variety.

- Tomatoes - 5 pcs.

- Mayonnaise - 50 g

Cooking a tomato and cheese snack
1. Wash the tomatoes under running water, dry with a paper towel, cut into rings about 5-7 mm thick and place on a plate in which you plan to serve the appetizer to the table.
2. Season each tomato circle with salt to taste, and squeeze the peeled garlic onto them through a press. Also select the amount of garlic based on your taste preferences.
3. Pour some mayonnaise over the tomatoes, although if you are a fan of this sauce you can add more.
4. Wash cilantro greens, dry, chop finely and place on each tomato. Cilantro can be replaced with any herb of your choice: dill, parsley, basil, rosemary.
5. Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater and sprinkle with tomatoes. All the appetizer is ready and you can serve it to the table. However, if you do not plan to treat it right away, then sprinkle the tomatoes with cheese just before serving the dish. And to make the cheese easier to grate, hold it in the freezer for 30 minutes. In addition, to make the appetizer cheaper, you can buy ready-made cheese shavings in the supermarket, it will also save time for cooking.
