Each housewife has delicious fast food in her culinary arsenal. One of these is a cold garlic appetizer made from tomatoes and cheese. She looks very impressive, decorating any table.

Tomatoes are indispensable vegetables in cooking, especially during their season. They are distinguished by their rich taste and pleasant aroma. Tomatoes are used extensively: they cook borscht and soups, make salads and snacks, bake and prepare drinks. Tomatoes and cheese are considered one of the classic combinations. These two products are so perfectly combined with each other that a lot of wonderful recipes have been invented on their basis. One of these is this appetizer. To prepare it, I recommend using only ripe fruits. Unripe tomatoes will have a slight bitterness, which will significantly affect the taste of the finished dish. I can say the following about the tomato variety. Any tomatoes are suitable for this appetizer, both classic pink, red, yellow and exotic black. It is advisable to choose dense fruits, it will be easier to cut them. The peel is usually not removed from tomatoes, because thanks to the top film, the slices keep their shape. Tomatoes should only be worked with a sharp knife.

As for the cheese, it will work with any kind. The most budgetary one is melted, but you can use hard cheese, feta cheese, mozzarella. Usually it is grated (large or medium), mixed with mayonnaise and the resulting mass is placed on top of tomato circles. Additionally, you can add spices or herbs to the dish. The amount of garlic used is adjusted according to taste and depending on the time and place of serving. That is why the appetizer should be prepared for holiday dishes or just for dinner. Since if you eat it in the morning or for lunch, then a garlic aroma will be present from the mouth, which will not allow you to conduct comfortable communication.

  • Tomatoes - 2-3 pcs.
  • Processed cheese - 100 g
  • Eggs - 1 pc.
  • Mayonnaise - 30-40 g
  • Garlic - 2-3 cloves

1. Wash the egg and put it in a container with cold water. Send it to the stove, boil and simmer until steep for about 10 minutes. Then pour cold water, and when it cools, peel and grate. Also grate the melted cheese. The size of the grater should be either medium or coarse. But for my taste, the appetizer looks more beautiful when the products are grated on a medium grater.

2. Peel the garlic and squeeze through a press into a plate to the grated food.

3. Pour in the mayonnaise. It can be replaced with sour cream.

4. Stir the food well. Taste the snack. If you like more spicy food, you can add some more garlic.

5. Wash the tomatoes, dry them and cut them into rings about 5 mm thick. Choose the right dish in which you will serve the appetizer to the table and put the tomato slices on it.

6. From the cheese mass, make small balls the size of a walnut and place them on each tomato circle, as shown in the photo.

7. Use a spatula, a tablespoon or just the palm of your hand to press down on the cheese ball so that it crushes and takes the form of a round tortilla around the diameter of the tomato.

8. Decorate the appetizer with any greens and serve it to the table. If you will not be serving the treat immediately after cooking, wrap the plate in a bag and store it in a cool place. Otherwise, the cheese will weather and the appetizer will lose its beautiful appearance.
