To insulate the ceiling in the dressing room and the rest room, you can use heat insulators made on the basis of plastic - polystyrene, perlite, honeycomb. In the steam room and washing room, these materials are not used.

Disadvantages of natural insulation:

  • May be affected by moths.
  • Dry quickly.
  • Installation takes a long time.
  • Only dry samples are used for installation, otherwise they will rot.
  • Natural ingredients are often impregnated with chemicals that are harmful to humans.

Do not cover the insulation in the washing room with anything, otherwise it will not dry out. The design of the ceiling in a bath made of reinforced concrete slabs has its own characteristics. If the walls of the bath are made of bricks and the ceiling is made of concrete slabs, the insulation of the ceiling is carried out as follows:

  1. Fasten mineral wool 10-15 cm thick from the bottom to the slab in any way.
  2. Cover the cotton wool with aluminum foil.
  3. Along the perimeter of the wall, under the ceiling, fix the beams of 10x10 cm, which will serve as support for the lathing.
  4. Fill the lathing for the lining to the beams in 50 cm increments.
  5. Sew up the ceiling with clapboard.
  6. From the side of the roof on the ceiling, lay a layer of insulation 10-15 cm thick. Lay planks on top of the insulation, then the attic can be used to store bath utensils.
  7. It is not necessary to waterproof the attic floor; a waterproof material under the roof is sufficient.
  8. If the steam room and the washing room are separated by solid walls, another, cheaper vapor barrier material can be used instead of foil.

The best vapor barrier for the ceiling of a wooden bath is a foil vapor barrier material. This is an expensive product and is often only used when building a ceiling in a steam room. In other rooms, it is cheaper to use a polyethylene film with a density higher than 140 microns for vapor barrier.

In the dressing room and the rest room, where the temperature is low, roofing felt, glassine and roofing felt can be laid as a vapor barrier. These substances are not used to protect against steam in the steam room; when heated, they emit unpleasant odors.
