Jellied open pie is an invention of European chefs, designed for an audience of any age. It can be baked for more than just a homemade dinner. The product can be served as an addition instead of bread to a hot one for lunch. It can be used as a snack instead of regular sandwiches. Also, such a cake will take its rightful place on the festive table. Therefore, I recommend preparing two pies at once, because one may not be enough.
The basis of a jellied open pie is shortbread dough, which is very easy to make from sour cream, butter and flour. But if there is no time to mess around with it, then you can replace it with layers of puff pastry, which is sold in any supermarket. You can also vary and experiment with the filling. Any fresh or thermally processed vegetables, meat and sausages, bacon, smoked or boiled chicken or turkey, fish delicacies, herbs and even fruits will do. Usually such a pie is baked in the oven, but you can also use a slow cooker for this.
