We offer several interesting recipes:

  • Ice cream … Whisk 2 diced cherimoya, 3 eggs and 150 ml heavy homemade cream in a blender. Then add a little vanillin and powdered sugar (250 g) and bring the mixture to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. When it's cool, place it in the freezer and beat every 20 minutes for two hours. The next morning, ice cream can already be consumed, having previously sprinkled with chocolate, coconut, poppy seeds or any other additives.
  • Sherbet … You will need to wash and scrub the cherimoya (500 g) by removing the seeds. Now grind it in a blender bowl and combine with homemade yogurt (250 g), lemon juice (2 tablespoons) and honey (3 tablespoons). Transfer the resulting mass to a deep metal bowl and refrigerate for a day. In the morning it will already be possible to eat it. This is a wonderful dessert that is perfect for tea, coffee, compote or any other drinks. If you don't have throat problems, then freeze the sherbet.
  • Waffles … You need to beat 4 eggs with sugar (120 g) and combine with flour (250 g), soda slaked in vinegar (half a teaspoon), milk (150 ml). Then add vegetable oil (4 tablespoons), salt to taste and the pulp of the main fruit (5 tablespoons). Then knead the dough so that it is homogeneous, without lumps. Next, pour it onto a waffle iron, electric or oven, and bake for 5 minutes on one side and on the other. Ready waffles need to be cooled, they can be eaten both in this form and with a filling. To prepare it, you should mix condensed milk (350 ml) with butter (200 ml). This mass is spread on baked goods, which are subsequently rolled up with a tube or pancake.
  • Pie … First, bake shortbread cookies by combining flour (2 cups) with chopped butter (250 g), salt the mass and add sugar (120 g). Now knead the dough and twist it in a meat grinder, placing it on a baking sheet. Bake it for 20 minutes until golden brown. After that, let the liver cool and crush it, but not into dust. Then lay out the first thick layer of the crumbs, and on top of it the pulp of the fruit, then repeat the same process until you reach the sides of the baking dish. The last layer should be cherimoya. Then place the baking sheet in the oven for 20-30 minutes. Pour orange juice over the finished baked goods.
  • Parfait … Whip heavy cream (300 ml) and sour cream (200 ml) into white foam. Next, carefully add cherimoya juice (50 ml) and grated cottage cheese (50 g) into the mass. Then add powdered sugar (60 g), beat the mass again, put it in the bowls, decorate with mint leaves and orange slices on top. You can also sprinkle the parfait with melted chocolate and sprinkle with coconut.
  • Salad … Dice the main ingredient (3 pieces) without the skin, add one pineapple wedge, dried mango pieces (50 mg) and shredded Chinese cabbage (120 g). Then pour the mixture with apple cider vinegar (1 tablespoon) and olive oil (2 tablespoons), sprinkle with asafoetida (no more than one pinch). Any yogurt can be used for dressing. Serve the salad after cooling.

This exotic fruit is known since the time of the Incas, who actively used it to strengthen their strength, its name was proposed by them. It is assumed that it was chosen because of the endurance of this tree. In the Andes, it is almost impossible to find fruit plants, and if they are, they grow very poorly due to inappropriate climatic conditions - low temperatures in winter and heat in summer. At the same time, there are whole groves with cherimoya in the south of Ecuador.

It has also been proven that this overseas fruit was necessarily included in the daily diet of the Aztecs and other tribes inhabiting the lands of South America (present-day Peru, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina). Today, the plant is actively cultivated in the subtropics - Algeria, Spain, Australia, Italy and other countries. It does not occur on the territory of the CIS. The fruits are rarely exported to Eastern Europe, as they have not found wide public acceptance.

Buying cherimoya in a supermarket is as problematic as it is in the market. It is unprofitable to export because of the high competition between fruit and apples and pears. The chances of buying this product are great in online stores like aliexpress with delivery from China. It costs much more than pineapple and coconut and is usually sold with the exporter's label, like bananas.

You should choose unripe fruits, which differ from ripe ones with a light and hard skin. They reach already in room conditions on the windowsill within 3-5 days, becoming more juicy and sweet. After that, they are folded into paper bags, which are tightly closed and sent to the refrigerator. In this form, fruits can be stored here for about 5 days, after which they begin to turn black and rot. Also, in no case is it recommended to eat unripe fruits, which are characterized by increased rigidity and resemble potatoes in taste.

Cherimoya is ideal for freezing for the winter, for which it is washed, dried, cut into pieces and placed on film in the freezer. But drying in this case is not relevant, since the pulp is too tough. The resulting dried fruits can hardly be used to prepare compote (uzvar).

The seeds themselves cannot be eaten, as they are too toxic. That is why the juice from them is considered very useful in agriculture - it is used to eliminate pests in the garden and fields.
