This dish is not a first course. And you did not know that the hodgepodge is also the second dish. Well, now you know. This dish of Russian and Polish cuisine does not lose its fans. Just a tasty and satisfying hodgepodge does not have to be cooked with meat, mushrooms, fish - they also go well with vegetables. To simplify the preparation, we will use sausages. This semi-finished product has proven itself perfectly in many dishes, both first and second, and even in baked goods. Hot hodgepodge will be prepared from sauerkraut, potatoes and sausages. You can make a hodgepodge of fresh cabbage. They will not be so sour, but no less tasty.

Ingredients:
- Sauerkraut - 500 g
- Onions - 1 pc.
- Sausages - 4-6 pcs.
- Pickled cucumbers - 2 pcs.
- Tomato juice - 1 tbsp
- Black peppercorns - 4 pcs.
- Sugar - 1 tbsp. l.
- Bay leaf - 3 pcs.
- Potatoes - 2-3 pcs.
Step-by-step cooking of sauerkraut hodgepodge with sausages and potatoes
Put the sauerkraut on a board and cut it so that it is not too long. Peel the onion and cut it into half rings.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes or strips. Pickled cucumbers, barrel, cut into rings, or more finely, if the cucumbers themselves are large.
It is best to take smoked sausages for a hodgepodge, it will be very tasty. But simple sausages are fine too. Cut the sausages into slices.
All the ingredients have been prepared, let's start cooking. Take a large skillet (you can cook in a slow cooker). Put the cabbage and onions in the pan. Simmer for 4 minutes.
Now add potatoes and pickles to them. Add the sausages last and mix. Fry everything together for 10 minutes.
Add tomato juice and mix. If you took tomato paste, then dilute it with water diluted with cucumber pickle or vegetable broth. Add all the spices and cover the pan.
Cooking the hodgepodge for 25 minutes, stirring it periodically. Mmm, can you smell what scent?
