Interesting facts about Indian dilation
Carl Linnaeus began to study the plant, but his colleague from Oxford brought the work to the end, who appropriated the botanical name by his surname Dillenius.
More often trees are found in the floodplains of tropical rivers: the fruits fall into the water, then they are washed ashore, where a new plant grows. But that's not the only way elephant apples are spread. If the fruit that has fallen from the tree is eaten by elephants, they can transfer the seeds many kilometers from the "native tree".
If the chulta has not been eaten, it will not be lost either. In the hot season, the fruit dries up, the thick peel cracks, termites crawl under it and eat the pulp. Ground is swept into the faults, and then the seeds germinate, further breaking through the shell. In the rainy season, germination is accelerated - the fruit rots, and the seeds swell quickly from moisture.
The plant is used not only for food and medicinal purposes. Wood is widely used, which was taken from the reservoirs on the banks of which the tree grew. After 3 years, it becomes so strong that cannons were once made from it. Now it is the main building material for log cabins of peasant houses.
The leaves are dried and mixed with sand. It is poured into pets' stalls or used in place of cat litter. This additive protects animals from skin parasites. Also, dried leaves are used in the manufacture of souvenirs for polishing ivory or cow horns.
