Spicy Indonesian pasta in cooking is used mainly for marinating meat, while, depending on the required degree of pungency and spice, the marinade is either washed off before heat treatment or not. It also goes well with stewed vegetables and cereals. Sometimes it is served as an addition to fresh salads, noodles, baked goods, however, in this case, usually the pasta is pre-fried a little to enhance the taste and aroma.

As for the variability of the recipe, the most common additional components of bumbu are such spices as black pepper, coriander, and turmeric. However, no one forbids adding your own signature ingredient. For example, on the island of Java, shrimp paste is traditionally added to the seasoning.
