Ingredients:

  • White cabbage - 400 g
  • Carrots - 1-2 pcs.
  • Sweet pepper - 1-2 pcs.
  • Tomatoes - 3-4 pcs.
  • Salt, pepper - to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp. l.
  • Bay leaf - 1 pc.
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Step by step cooking stewed cabbage in the oven

We wash and prepare the vegetables - carrots and peppers: peel and cut the carrots into small cubes, and cut out the seed box of the pepper and chop it as well.

In a frying pan in a small amount of vegetable oil, fry the peppers and carrots for 5-6 minutes.

Chop the white cabbage into thin long strips. You can use a special grater for this.

Combine chopped cabbage with fried vegetables and transfer to a heat-resistant form for stewing. Salt and pepper the cabbage, add bay leaves and a few grains of black or allspice.

My tomatoes, cut in half and grate. Add the tomato puree to the cabbage, evenly distributing it so that it covers the entire cabbage. If the tomatoes are fleshy and not juicy enough, add 100–150 ml water to the roasting pan. If you are preparing a dish in winter or you do not have fresh tomatoes on hand, you can replace them with 3 tbsp. l. tomato paste, diluted in one and a half glasses of water.

We simmer the cabbage in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, covering the brazier with a lid or a double layer of cling foil, then open and cook for another 30 minutes.

Delicious and juicy cabbage is ready. Serve as a side dish with fried sausages, chicken chops, or other meat dishes. Also, this cabbage is good as an independent dish.
